AZ you can go to any grocery store and get what you please until 2:30 am, and start again at 6 am except for Sundays, you have to wait till 10:00 am. Only time I have an issue is if I'm going to a Cardinals game and forgot to pick up beer before tailgating.

In the entire state of Pennsylvania, you can buy liquor and wine ONLY at the state-operated liquor stores. None in convenience stores, none in grocery stores. Few liquor stores are open at all on Sundays either.

As for beer in Pennsylvania: You have to get it as a six-pack/twelve-pack/40 in a bar or "six-pack shop" only. Even then, you can only buy 192 ounces at a time. If you want a case or a keg, you have to go to a beer distributor.

I never thought much of it after living in Pennsylvania for most of my life. It's just the way things are. When I was in college, we'd walk to the six-pack shop usually to get beer. I think you could get a sixer and a twelve-pack, but not two twelve-packs. If you wanted more, you could buy it, take it outside and set it on the street, then come in and get more, but they couldn't sell it all to you at one.


Now, in North Carolina, laws are MUCH more lenient. You can buy beer and liquor in grocery stores or convenience stores between 7 a.m. and 2 a.m. every day except Sunday. Sales on sunday do not begin until noon.

I like PA's laws, but if they were to allow convenience stores and supermarkets to sell alcohol for a cost, we could generate some more revenue for the state. I'm not really a drinker at all, but I don't find it inconvenient to go to a state store/distributor versus Wal-Mart or GIANT. Heck, both the distributor and state store are closer to my house than any grocery store.

Wegmans is the best Grocery store on the planet, anyone that thinks otherwise is ignorant.

Now NY is similar to PA in that Wine and liquor can only be sold in liquor stores. The reason is that it creates more jobs by having beer and wine separate. If you could buy wine or Vodka in a grocery store, you would never go to a liquor store.

Hoboken had the crazy drive in liquor garage, granted you can get sodas by the caseload too but roll in, get a keg put in the truck. ROLL OUT.

I'm pretty sure the places that stay open until 2am in Texas have to pay extra for a license or something. The sports bar I work at is like that except on Sunday when we close at midnight, so that might be another restriction. I do know that you can buy alcohol before noon on Sundays as long as you order food with it.
