Re: Conference Tie Ins

a few days ago Maurice came up with an idea for something else could try.. I kinda put the pieces together for it but tell me what you guys think

-we use 3 groups for ooc games: top 4, next 4, last 4
-based on conference wins first, then bcs rankings next after week 15..
-1 plays 3 and 4 in each group, 2 plays 3 and 4 in each group
-higher seed chooses home, away or neutral
-only 2 games so a 3rd ooc can be vs cpu or another user if you schedule it
-every year determines the next year

if that didnt make sense, this would be the ooc schedule for next year..
A 1 Wash 2 Miami 3 Bama 4 Mich
.....Wash vs Mich, Miami vs Bama,
.....Wash vs Bama, Miami vs Mich

B 1 OSU 2 Ore 3 Ark 4 UNC
..... OSU vs UNC, Ore vs Ark,
..... OSU vs Ark, UNC vs Ore

C 1 Mar 2 USC 3 A&M 4 LSU
..... Mar vs LSU, USC vs A&M,
..... Mar vs A&M, USC vs LSU

like I said, thats only 2 games so I could schedule Hogan for giving me sanctions, or my lil bro could schedule Joker to get a high ranked game, or Michigan vs ND for a rival game before ND left... plenty of chances to move up

good thing is if a team has a down year (especially afyet a real good year) then it will actually show up on the field.. a team like UNC could run the table if he beats Miami and Miami loses to Bama or Michigan, but then next year UNC would be in the top bracket.. a lot of possibilities for good competition and just something new we could try in general.. 2 games shouldnt affect the realism too much either

Re: Conference Tie Ins

I like it for the most part. If a coach leaves it could mess things up. So i leave bama and join say the ACC...where do i play? I guess u could give new users the lower tier game?

your new team would just get plugged in based on their conference record and ranking.. the schedule wont be made until the preseason so nothing changes.. i plugged in Texas A&M after ND left, it bumped up UNC to the next 5 and opened up the last spot in the Last 5

only real potential problem is if we got to less than 12 teams, but if it turned into 11 teams the last 3 would just play each other.. still 2 games, still can schedule another

Re: Conference Tie Ins

My concern with this is there will probably be a substantial difference in strength of schedule if games are scheduled based on how they finished.

What's wrong with that? Is there some sort of advantage one gains with strength of schedule?

I don't think there is a relevant recruiting ranking for that.
My 5 top 25 wins didn't help me get into the NCG lol

im wondering the same thing... is your concern with an advantage over the cpu or other users? with those games I personally think we would all be A or A+ anyway, and there's no A++++ so any advantage would be small. Before I played an over-ranked ND team, Palsy was the top team this year after playing a weaker schedule than me and Maurice.. I saw the year Mwitt was robbed in the same situation when he posted the top 3 teams schedules and his was way tougher than Joker and Maurices.. If a tougher schedule doesnt benefit you in rankings or recruiting idk what else it helps unless if you know something I dont

the strength of schedule ranking might be different but actually having us play tougher schedules is not possible without user games.. this is more to make sure whoever gets in has to earn it one way or another.. no team in the last 4 would have an easy road anyway because its off of conference standings first, so all of them have at least 1 or 2 tougher users that they are already behind on their schedule.

Maryland for example would theoretically have an easier ooc schedule but with Mich and OSU still on their schedule its easiER not easy, still A+ strength of schedule.. its still relative to his teams talent tho so
(B+ Md vs B+ LSU) = (A+ OSU vs A+ Ark)... is better than (A+ Mia vs B+ Md) > (A+ Bama vs A+ Mich)...
Bama gets left out because of no reward for that win while I can get in purposely playing weaker teams, or none at all like Maurice is doing this year

idk if theres an advantage to strength of schedule or not on this game tho, thats why im asking
