Re: Flag Football Playbook?

We have our finals Monday...we went 8-0, and only gave up 24 points all year.

However, we gave up 12 of them to the team we play Monday, and we beat them 13-12.

Re: Flag Football Playbook?

alright...we locked up a bid to the Top Flight Championship Bracket with a 43-0 win last night...if we win next week we lock up the #1 seed.

and for Bk...no 80 yard runs to comment about this week...the opposing team never crossed the 40...although I did break a nice 50 yard play on the first play of the game for a TD.

Re: Flag Football Playbook?

Well, tonight we locked up the #1 seed bye knocking off the former 1st place team...28-14.

it was a pretty good game...a couple clutch INTs in the endzone...tied in with a couple deep completions...and them complaining the whole second half. That was the fun part....watching them fall apart....they don't take losing well.

bad part is we don't play for the next two weeks...due to the Thursday night league having to catch up due to rain outs.

we finished the regular season 7-1

Re: Flag Football Playbook?

CITY CHAMPS!

27-13.

we knew it was ours when we stopped them inside our own 5 yard line...twice on their first two possessions.

it was pretty funny watching them complain about something after every play.

either way...we bring home the hardware and we defend our title in January.

Re: Flag Football Playbook?

Heh, I completely forgot about this.

We lost our final game 43-38, in by far the most controversial game of flag football I've ever seen, which ended with me snapping two tendons in the back of my leg (I'm actually fine now, I recovered in two weeks somehow. I don't know if they were actually snapped, but I did use crutches for 10 days or so).

Anyhow, we play two 20 minute halves (run time). First half, they dominate us, because we came out slow. I got beat deep by this guy who was 5'4'' (I'm 5'8''), which wasn't too good, but I also caught two TD passes. We were up 25-15 at the half.

Second half, they come back late on the WR triple reverse pass too their 6'5'', 250 lb guy. He caught the ball and started running, and our team just cracked up. All 6 of us (we play 6-6), missed their tackles. Makes it 43-38 late in the game. We drive down the field to the 5 with a minute to go.

We run a small hook play to me, considering I'm the #1 WR (which in a way, is sad, but in another way, isn't ). I'm being covered by the huge guy (who I'm good friends with, BTW). I make the catch, and beat him inside. He does the only thing he can, and dives as I'm inches away from the endzone. My feet are right near the goaline as he misses my flag and 250 pounds land on the back of my leg.

Now, I can't tell you what happened after this on my own, but here's what apparently happened.

I'm lying on the ground in agony, and the ref (who is the gym teacher), marks the ball at the original LOS, instead of where my feet were, inches away from the goalline. Our team argues, but to no avail. The Canadian Flag Football Rules (which we follow), state the ball should be placed where the feet are. We ran the next play, and instead of having a plunge into the endzone from the goaline, we have to run a pass. We run a pass to the endzone, but it gets knocked down. Bad way to lose. We tried to protest, but were apparently told to "suck it up."

On another note, we challenged the winners to a game on Thursday, in the snow, and they accepted. Should be a good game.
