EA vs. 2K: The Results - Did anyone ever read this article?

http://sports.ign.com/articles/679/679438p1.html

It's so sad that 2K was beginning to own videogame football and EA stomped in like Walmart to put the smaller chain out of business.

This sums it up right here...

"I do own Madden 06, and although I am 100% on 2K's side, I needed a football game. I would of traded Madden right in the day after I bought it but my younger brother enjoys it, so at least it isnt a 50 dollar coaster."

You will all do this with each Madden game they put out. We need a football game so we buy Madden. If we had a choice, we would buy the other game, or we may buy both.

I hate that EA continues to take my money because I want an NFL football game. I HATE IT!!!

1. Who makes the best sports games?

2K Sports: 63%
EA Sports: 37%

are we really surprised?

not suprised but that's what happens when you have monopolies.

Having an exclusive license with the NFL, ESPN, MLB, etc. is not a monopoly.

Correct. People keep talking about monopolies, but don't seem to know the actual definition of one.

Thread moved to correct forum as well.

That sums it up alright. Nobody "needs" a football game. That's simply an excuse for "I'll cave in and give EA my money", and nothing more. And if someone is so on 2K's side, then NFL 2K5 will do just nicely thanks, given it's still the best football game on the market.

Exclusive control by one group of the means of producing or selling a commodity or service

Yeah, EA does have a monopoly in producing NFL licensed football games if we look at the definition of the word.

I agree with you. Its a monopoly when only one company can make an NFL licensed game. Its not a monopoly if you say 2K can still make a (generic) football game. Either way, we are splitting hairs. Its an exclusive deal that screwed a bunch of people over that liked the 2K game better.
