Re: More Sure Bet? College or Pros

I gotta out of this whole pointspread betting thing years ago after learning some hard lessons. But I'll save the preaching.

As far as the topic, NFL is WAY easier than NCAA anything. Pro's play much more predictably. The key is you CAN'T look at games like a fan. And being objective is the hardest thing to do for a sports fan.

That's where I disagree. In the NFL the talent throughout the league is pretty even - so anything can happen at any time. I bet the Bengals at -6 against the Browns, who saw the Browns dropping 51 or whatever in that game? Or the Jets covering on the road against the Ravens with Clemens as the starting QB.

In college, you can win (and dominate) simply by being more athletic than the other team. Games like USC -10 at Nebraska and Michigan -7 vs Notre Dame are free money.

Everything's "free" money when the game's are over.

For every 'free' money game is a favorite giving way too many points that never covers. Happens every week countless times. No such thing as a gimme, or a lock. Yet people only seem to remember the one's they win, that's the gamblers mentality.

Anyway, in the NFL there's less teams/players to research. Easier to spot the matchups. You pick a few games and do your research, and see where the public is making the mistake.

No different than betting the ponies. You're playing against the public, spot the overlay.

Is Northwestern +17.5 at home a good bet against Michigan? Or are they that bad.

I think that michigan (as long as hart stays healthy) should be at least 3 touchdowns better than northwestern, but i like the under in that game more than the line because michigan has never under lloyd carr had that killer instinct and put teams away
