Euphoria vs Pro Tac Engine Revisited

From previous thread..........

http://www.operationsports.com/forum...system-16.html

Now that we have tried out Madden and have seen some more information from the devs at backbreaker, what do you think is better? Euphoria engine or the Pro Tak system?

My response is still the same. I will take physics based tackling over canned animations anyday.

A perfected physics based tackling engine is obviously better than a perfected canned animation system. That is not the question. The question is how good is backbreakers tackling system and will it take a big enough cut out of Madden sales to warrant EA trying to switch to a physics system.

Have you played BB yet? I only ask because how can you compare products that you have yet to see in action yourself?

In theory, yes BB has the potential to be vastly superior to Madden. It could even be the future of all sports gaming. Sadly, we will have to wait to find out how good it really will be

EA isn't sold on Euphoria, nothing to get your hopes up about.

Kind of hard to make an informed decision at this point. We still haven't played any type of Backbreaker game yet so who's to say how well Euphoria will or will not work. Personally I think they are having issues making it work in a football game, it's been over two years since the game was announced and we have not seen any real 11 on 11 game play footage yet. At this point my money is on Backbreaker never seeing the light of day.

Re: Euphoria vs Pro Tack Tackling Revisited

Ian has mentioned that we would lose the ability to struggle for yards.
He says every hit will seem like a missle launch.
Unless he's played the game, how would he know?

I would like both Euphoria and Pro-Tak.

I think the truth is there is only 1 gaming system out right now(hint it has a cell processor) that would be able to intergrate BOTH Euphoria and Pro-Tak.
Imo until co's like EA stop porting games over to get the most sales, we will be playing watered down versions of simulation games. Again, just mho.

Heck, they plan on using it for supercomputing in space.

Re: Euphoria vs Pro Tack Tackling Revisited

Why would you lose the ability to struggle for additional yards? If anything what you'd see in Backbreaker would be realistic based on the weight / physics of the players instead of manufactured like ProTak which results in some really unrealistic results at time (such as an HB breaking out of 6 guys holding on to him).
