I know we've been burned before and we're all in "fool me once" mode, but I think we have an NFL console game coming out.

As far as the infamous post, he may have just taken everything we seen and added a dash of conjecture to spice up his post a little. I believed we were getting a game before the post, any exaggerations in the post does not discredit what's being worked on and shown.
The Reliant Stadium image has EA logos on the stadium wall. It's been confirmed EA is not involved so this image is probably a work sample and not of JMF 16.

The artist labeled his work "Joe Montana NFL game". I guess it's possible, but that's not a smoking gun imo. It's very possible the artist just wanted to keep the title short and NFL is much shorter than Proffessional American Football. To a lot of casual sports people the NFL and professional football are the same thing.

If you ask me, there is still no real evidence this will have the NFL license. Since EAs license is still exclusive and this game will be on pc for sure (we know it's not pc only) I don't think the NFL license is likely. If I'm not mistaken, pcs games were covered in the EA deal.

Yupp.

"The NFL/EA arrangement encompasses action, simulation, arcade-style, and manager games made for PCs, consoles, and handhelds (both the DS and PSP, included), giving EA a firm hold on the football gaming market. "

So unless the deal changed, this is all BS.

True, it could be that he associates the NFL with all American football. He is an artist and probably not a football fan. Well, how bout this, there is a console football game coming out with a supposedly deep franchise mode. I'll take that too.

Also, Big, as far as the other question you had, I don't really think OS wants the reputation of the likes of a Chris Broussard, ie....confidential sources or random posters flying out of thin air and propagating something that can't be backed up at this point.
Damon Grows history is in mobile gaming, but in that tech vid, Joe Montana was looking into developing a console game that could compete against Madden. A mutual friend introduced them. It's very possible that Joe Montana was just impressed with Mr. Grow and wanted him to work on the project even if his background was mobile.

Grows background is really the only reason to believe this is a mobile project. The work is too good. Stadium tickers with messages, rendered fans, sweat pooling and vein dilation when football players wear helmets during any action. That's way more detail than I've ever seen in a mobile football, and none of it is what you can see during actual play. All we've gotten is info on the fluff so far.

If this is a mobile game, it's an insanely detailed one.

I agree a lot with this, but I didn't see where Montana was was looking to compete with Madden in the tech vid. They were originally discussing his NFL Fantasy app. To me, it appeared as if Montana said and knew he couldn't compete with Madden and kind of laughed and shrugged it off.

That was my take, others take may vary.

Joe Montana came out and said in an interview that he didn't like the fact that there were no competing football games to go up against madden.

Personally, I don't care if it's an NFL game or not. I am fairly certain it will be an unlicensed game. That being said, I don't even care. I just want an extremely realistic game that has an incredibly deep online franchise mode. I'm excited because I know a new game is coming out regardless of all of this other (mis)information. I really doubt this is going to be a mobile only game, but to each their own.

Also, showing enthusiasm for this is a good thing, IMO. It's just a video game, it's not like someone will die if none of this pans out. Nothing will happen, we will all be in the same place we are now. Nothing to stress about at all. The only thing we all can be sure of is the fact that no one actually knows a damned thing (except the actual people working on the game). In the meantime, it's fun to discuss and dream about possibilities. We will all find out in the coming months and all we can do is hope it all works out.
