So when are you all going to make a football game?

I know for sure there are a handful of people/companies working on different football games right now. (including me)

From what I've seen over the last 10 years of working on this, the problem isn't making a realistic football game, it's getting the graphics to a point where anyone will take you seriously. If the 'community' were more accepting of substance over sizzle, we'd have a lot more games to choose from.

As games get more detailed and complex that's an ever-increasing bar to hurdle too.

I think that's the mistake that most of us 'hobby developers' make; trying to top what's already out there (Madden).

I've taken the approach that it might be a better idea to try to take a different angle on football games, instead of just out-doing Madden. Looking at the football landscape right now, I'm positive there's room for different flavors of football games.

There's a massive middle-ground between Madden and text sims. It seems almost completely unexplored.

If this is really going to happen, there needs to be a sub-forum on this site just for that purpose. Putting everything in a single thread will get lost quickly as the thread grows larger. Also, we'd have to find out everyone's skills and abilities, select leads for each level/type of development, etc.. Bottom line, we need a select fefw individuals to start organizing everything and making decisions such as what engine? art style? programming language?.

I'm not a huge football fan, but I'd definitely lend my programming skills to such an affair. From a programming standpoint, sites like Github make it easy to share code while providing some version control.
