Re: MLB Off-Topic

I would have killed for the Yankees to win in 2001. After 9/11. It had to happen. It was the storybook ending. I know Jeets and company would have traded any WS to win that year too.

That one hurts the most. It's hard to complain of course. But that was a gut shot.

2001 WS is a top ten baseball series of all time. So incredible to watch, every game.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

the '99 series didn't bother me nearly as much, anticlimactic end to a great Braves decade that still had so much unrealised potential to offer even more.

still, there were 20+ other teams that would have killed to have the success the 90's Braves had
Can we please not ever again bring up the 96 series? I'm still mad at Wholers for that changeup.

I knew there was a reason that "The Comeback" wasn't a site that I visit for reputable sports journalism

It has not been a particularly strong season for Major League Baseball umpires as umps across the league have gone viral for blown calls and other gaffes all season. On Sunday, another MLB umpire made a terrible call behind the plate, and it led to an extremely heated argument and an ejection.

In the top of the third inning of Sunday’s game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals, Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly threw a pitch to Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado that looked quite a bit inside.

Even though the pitch looked several inches off the plate, home plate MLB umpire Oliver Marmol called the pitch a strike, and Cardinals manager C.B. Bucknor went absolutely ballistic.

Marmol immediately ejected Bucknor as soon as the St. Louis manager stepped out of the dugout to argue the call, but that didn’t stop Bucknor from having a heated exchange with the umpire for several minutes before he left the game.

After the game, Bucknor called the pitch “a clear ball,” and offered a reason why he was so angry, according to Bally Sports.

“I didn’t like the smirk when I got out there,” Bucknor said. “And then he questioned my time in the league, so I returned the favor and questioned his time in the league.”

The Cardinals ultimately won the game 6-4.

Re: MLB Off-Topic

A sign of how quick pitching has changed.

The MLB leader (active or retired) in complete games since 2009 is Roy Halladay whose final season was almost a decade ago.
