They probably view him as a better option defensively. Doesn’t really matter who went down today anyway. Whoever they didn’t send down today is likely gone on Tuesday when Stanton comes back. Can’t see them keeping Stanton, Hicks, Gardner, Maybin, and Tauchman/Frazier, especially now that EE is there. On days where both him and Voit play, the DH spot is taken. Judge is close to returning as well.

I'd assume he'd wanna go there vs. the Phils. Makes sense in term of the comparative team cohesiveness, though I don't know enough about the Twins and how they mesh.
