    Re: 2010 Dunk Contest

Trust me, I'm am in full agreement with your first point.

I would reply to that, James could easily, easily start a snowball effect going forward. Get a bit of legitimacy back into the contest and build a nice foundation.

I wouldn't expect James to "save" the contest. Like I said he would simply make it "better". That's all we can ask for.

There are a lot of nice dunkers out there, as I listed a few posts back. Get the gimmicks out of the contest [sorry Dwight and Nate] and get back to good ole fashion dunking. The guys I listed are good at that

Watching Steve Francis trying to execute Terence Stansbury's one foot, Statue of Liberty 360 dunk was one of the most mind-numbing moments of my life. . .and I don't mean that as a slight toward Steve Francis. I just don't know who thought it'd ever be a good idea to make a 6'3'' guard who can't palm a basketball try and Statue of Liberty it.

Im glad to see lebron has something to say about this. The dunk competition the last few years has been absoultely ridiculous. the props are useless, and some of these dunks are so lame. like D12 throwing the ball in the net last and almost getting a 50, such garbage. year, Bring back VC and JR and throw someone else in there. Those guys really know how to put on a show.

First two dunkers out of 5 (yes, five... there is a "Dunk-in" at halftime of the Rookie Challenge) are Eric Gordon and DeMar DeRozan.

I think DeRozan will kill it, but I guess I'd like to see Eric Gordon. Maybe he'll surprise me like Rudy Fernandez did last year.

Eric Gordon? What the hell? He must have one hell of a practice highlight tape, because he really hasn't had any great in-game dunks.

I'm hoping they get Shannon Brown in there to avenge his loss in HS to LBJ.

DeRozan should have been a no-brainer, so good job on that selection.

Edit: My bad, I didn't realize these two were in the dunk-in. DeRozan should be in it hands down without this dunk-in. Wow

                And yes DeRozan should've been a no-brainer.
Who are the other 3 that are in for sure? I thought they were supposed to be announced tonight too.

According to HoopsHype.com, LeBron James is still 50-50 on the contest. Meanwhile, Nike may have leaked a promotion for fans to design Shannon Brown's shoe at All-Star Weekend... if that's the case, it's got to be the Dunk Contest, so I'd plan on him being in it.

Eric Gordon and DeMar DeRozan sound happy to be participating, but only DeRozan is being given any chance.

It's official. Nate Robinson, Gerald Wallace, Shannon Brown, and the dunk-in winner between Eric Gordon and DeMar DeRozan.

Gerald Wallace has a lot more name-recognition than when he did this in 2002.

After Gerald hurt his ankle today I bet you he will pull out of the contest sometime this week. I know the dunk contest doesn't mean much anymore, but just having a Bobcat get to participate in All-Star weekend would be great. Unfortunately I have serious doubts that will happen now. Wallace said he's afraid it may be worse than just a rolled ankle. Plus he's trying to get Charlotte to their first playoffs ever. If he feels at all that he may be taking a risk then it's just not going to happen. Hopefully it's not bad at all, and he can come back in time for the Heat on Wednesday. That's a pretty big game for the Bobcats.

Yeah, from his post game interview I would be surprised if he participates, especially since he was in it before. If anyone needs some rest during the All-Star Break it would be Wallace.

I know one thing I am sick and tired of seeing Nate in the dunk contest. He shouldn't have won the two that he did and I an tired of seeing him get the undeserved high scores on his dunks just because he is little. The whole lil man gimmick has ran its course. Let somebody else come in cause Nate just doesn't impress me in the dunk contest anymore. His second dunk last year was the absolute worst dunk I have ever seen in a dunk contest and they gave him a high score just to put him in the finals. Hell it shouldn't have even counted.

I think that would be awesome if they did that and the winnings went to Hati.

Carter won't be in for sure as he is way too banged up. Probably same goes for Kobe.
