No, the only thing Marbury does better is score. He doesn't defend any better then Nash. Nash may be a subpar defender, but so is Steph. Isiah just had to have a talk with Steph about his defense a week ago.

He's been a pretty good defender since then, IMHO.

I think Nenad Kristic really hurt the Knicks along with Jebari Smith yesterday night. But whenever the Knicks made a run, it was due to Marbury, his offense AND his defense.

I do consider Marbury to be a good defender but only when he wants to be.

Funny that a GM has to talk to a player about anything regarding his on court performance. I guess hands on Lenny hasn't changed much from his Raptor days but I guess that's the kind of coach Isiah likes.

OMG Steph over Nash?

I've been with Phoenix for a while, and I tell you Steph is NOT topping Nash. Last year, the Suns were just about the same team they are this year except they now have Nash instead of Steph. Last year the Suns totally MISSED the playoffs. This year they are at the top of the league standings.

Unless you think it was Q-Rich that made the difference, Nash is a better player than Marbury. Marbury was with Marion and Stoudamire last year (both great players) and he still couldn't get them to put up the numbers needed to win games. That's what PGs do!

But Nash did it. He came and put them to the top. Whatever he did worked.

BTW, I do know that Q-Rich and the new coach Mike D'Antoni may have contributed to this, but I doubt they did any more than Nash.

That's faulty logic.

Steve Nash has a better FG% than Marbury. This does not imply that Nash would still score as much over the course of a game as Marbury.

By your logic, since Chucky Atkins has a higher FG% than Kobe Bryant, Atkins could also score 28 points a game if he wanted to.

FG% does not mean much because Nash's FG% would be radically different if he was more aggressive. If he did average 25 ppg "if he wanted to", his assists would obviously go down as well. It's usually a zero-sum relationship.

Lastly, I do not understand how anybody can compare the Suns to the Knicks. When Stephon was with the Suns, they were not remotely the same team. This team has aged wonderfully- there is a big difference between Amare Stoudamire last year (good player) and Amare this year (great player). There's a difference in how Marion plays this year. There's a difference with Q-Rich on this team. Joe Johnson is taking better shots now, and when Marbury was traded he was just starting to take off.

I'm confident Marbury today on the Suns would be just as good if not better than Nash. He is not the same player he was last year, especially with regards to his passing. Marbury creates shots for his teammates with his outstanding ability to get to the basket; I shudder to think what opportunities it would open up for Marion and Stoudemire in the low post.

On the subject of the post- I think Steph and J. Kidd is a toss-up honestly. I'd give a slight nod to Steph because of age. AI is a great player but I don't think he's as good of a point guard.

Re: Stephon Marbury said yesterday he believes he's the best point guard in the NBA.

Tough to call the PG's. Alot of where they fit depends on what is needed by the team...Its going to be mostly personal opinion on all these.

1. Nash (his off-balance, desparation layups in heavy traffic that always seem to fall reminds me so much of Mark Price..no PG is more valuable to his team)
2. Wade (good mix of offense, playmaking, D, and intangibles)
3. AI (leads league in scoring...nothing else needs to be said)
4-5-6-7. ( in no particular order) Steph/Franchise/Arenas/B-Ditty. (These guys are all short 2 guards that have to handle the rock because their the smallest guys on the team. None of these guys are true PG's, IMO.)

Once Kidd is healthy, he reclaims the #1 spot and everyone else goes down a notch.

edit: A Marbury-led Suns team would be booty. Marbury has and never will run...and Amare and Matrix both need a pass-first PG to be successful.
