If you were pulling for the Cavaliers because they were an underdog, this letter is going to piss you off. Or if you felt sorry for the Cavaliers or whatever.

If you are a Cavaliers fan, this is the Declaration of Independence for the team.

BTW, despite Gilbert's tone...I think he's dead on LeBron. If anyone would know what LeBron is like, Gilbert would.

But would you agree it was after they realized they couldn't do it as the best player on their team?

For his legacy. Unless he doesn't care about that.

I just feel like he would've come out of this looking better if he at least made it appear that he still wanted to take on the challenge of leading a team.

They have a guy in D-Wade who is THE guy, who's already won something, and who will be running this team. It's not a good look.
ok i see where you were coming from

As long as the NBA has a system that doesn't prevent teams that draft great young talent well from making them choose which one they want later on, I can live with it.

I already clarified my statement in a response to another guy. If legacy isn't an issue to him, it is what it is. But it would seem like he's still up for the challenge if he decides to go somewhere and sort of "build" something. Melo isn't there yet so I'll go with what they currently have.

Why is that?
Much larger talent pool (an entire country) and nothing in place to force parity and discourage the formation of a super team. I don't feel like the NBA should be, or really has been recently, about that.

I don't get how, after years of a league where a megastar per team, classic rivalries, etc., is encouraged, suddenly this is looked at by some people as "what's the big deal...? he just wants to win a ring..." It's cool if that's how they wanna do it, but he's not coming out looking like much of a superstar anymore.
