I'm sorry but a superstar PF should be able to drag a team to the playoffs in a league where over 50% of the league makes the playoffs.
Totally agree. I'm having the same arguement with some friends about Monta Ellis.. scoring 25+ PPG on a losing team doesn't make you a franchise superstar

Durant, Kobe, LeBron, Wade, Dwight, Carmelo.

Those are the superstars in the NBA right now. Those are the guys who, as you’re number 1 option, will always have a decent roster in contention. I even hesitate to put Dwight on that list because he allowed himself to be shut down by one on one defense in the ECF. There is a tier of players just about ready to break through (cp3, deron Williams, rajon rondo, I’m sure I’m forgetting somebody). And then there are guys like Amare, Bosh, Boozer, Jefferson, Gasol. If these guys are your 2nd option then you're in really good shape, but if they are you're number one then you're picking in the lottery. I call those guys All-Stars. That last line I took from one of Bill Simmons sports articles.
I would consider D.Howard a Superstar himself, even though he did see some bad game in the ECF you can't forget he also had some remarkable games in the ECF also come to think about it, Boston really only shut him down in 2 games the whole series, he dropped 30+ twice and 20+twice and with D.Howard he isn't always going to Drop 20+ PPG every night nor does he get those type of touches like what shaq was getting in his days, but he his a monster defensively and a beast on the boards, so I would add him to that superstar list also.

I would consider a double double average a superstar. PF's and C's dont carry teams into the playoffs, their the accessory guy. That doesnt mean they cant be superstars, just generaly speaking these are not the guys that carry their teams.

A top 5 player at your position doesnt make you a "superstar" a top 5 player in the league (even top 10) does...

Bosh's mid range game is better than Gasol's and Amar'e.

I'd have to respectfully disagree. A superstar is supposed to embody more than just statistics. You can't be a superstar and an accessory. Those two things are mutually exclusive.

Re: Chris Bosh is not a superstar

A true superstar is a player that excels on both the offensive and defensive side of of the court. This player must be a go to scorer who can score in numerous fashions and his man defense must be adequate. This player needs to conduct himself like a winner in the games and practices. It is absolutely crucial that the superstar lifts his teammates to heights they could not reach on their own.

Bosh does not satisfy that criteria. He is a great elbow jump shooter and a good driver. But, he cannot transcend an opposing defense with his own offense.
