If you have a spoiled child, do you blame the child or the parent?

Yea I really don’t see how him taking the qualifying offer is bad for the Mavs. I think Knicks fans are just being salty that their best player was traded for a guy they could have drafted last year.

KP is only 23 and he probably will heal from this ACL as other players have done. But at 7'3..for how long? Luka, KP and no cap space in the West? Good luck with that.

At this point everything depends on what happens during the draft lottery. If it's not the #1 pick then this is 2010 Part II. If it's Zion (knowing us it won't be), then those 2 max slots will have some value.

KP's brother and Mark Cuban is a match made in hell. They'll dangle that qualifying offer over Cuban's head for as long as they can.

Mavs will have over $50 mil in cap space in 2020.

Agreed to sign with Dallas back in 2015 to instead re-sign with his old team after being held captive. Then fate would finally bring the two sides together last summer. Now a few short months later he is traded to New York.

And here I thought some of my past courtships/relationships were messy.

The crazy thing is that if he’s not held hostage and signs with the Mavs instead of going back to LA the Mavs are likely not in a position to draft DSJ or Luka.

You really don't see how Porzingis taking a one year deal for basically no money by nba standards instead of a max contract so that he can become an unrestricted free agent sooner would be bad? That's almost like saying I don't see how Anthony Davis turning down the super max is bad for the Pelicans.

And I don't think many knicks fans are thrilled today, but Dennis Smith Jr. is the least important part of this trade

No, I don’t see it as a bad thing at all. They get a year and a half to see how his health is. They also get a year in a half to show him how great it is play with Luka. Then in 2020 when the Mavs have over $50 mil in cap space they can max him out and bring in another max player. Remember, the Mavs have one of the most stable front offices in the NBA. This front office has a track record of pulling off successful trades to bring in players to put around their star(s). They are basically the anti-Knicks. The Knicks seem to change their direction every couple of years and have been horrible at bringing in the right players. KP is going to think he’s in heaven once he gets to Dallas.

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread

This is probably just me being a bitter Knicks fan, but I don't know if Porzingis and his brothers realize that a huge part of KP being such a big name and being is popular was because of the team and market he played in. I just don't see him having as much star power and attention in Dallas. Especially with Luka being around who is in all likelihood going to be "the guy" on that team. You don't get the same attention and marketing in Dallas that you do in NYC. I could be completely wrong though.

This is an Aroldis Chapman play. He nets us these assets, signs the QO offer and then signs back as a FA. Calling it. Agent PorzinGod.

He is basically the Anti-Melo.
