If the Mavs end up in cap hell, we win. The way we lose is if he ends up a superstar that can carry a franchise because the way we're going right now and what we would've had to pay him, he would've had to be that guy.
It depends how it plays out but knowing Cuban, I can easily see him being like “Yeah, our cap situation sucks but we can still make a push for the playoffs” and then those picks ending up in like the 10-14 range because he had too much pride to tank.

At this point, they should be under the assumption that he’ll sign the QO(knowing them, I’m sure they’re prepared for that)so they can’t do anything about that. But they still shouldn’t change their approach to convincing him to remain there, that’s why I don’t think it’s that dire for them right now.

They have a lot of good things there that would make him want to stay. If there’s one thing people can’t say about Cuban, it’s that he’s not committed to putting a winner on the floor and we’ve seen that over time.

But even if he ends up a superstar there and y’all get KD or Kyrie or Kawhi, then the move was worth it. But again, it just depends on what their plan is going forward.

It'll take this years first.

I would guess something along the lines of Robinson (maybe Knox too) and this years first along with the expiring deals of Kanter, Mario, Mudiay in agreement to take back the Hill contract with Davis..

Only problem is added Hill hurts the cap at least for another year to pair Davis with players to build a winning team, and adding Davis this year makes the pick worse as they will win more games.

Kyrie didn't do much to squash the rumors but I think I don't owe anybody *** was mainly from he's upset at Rich Paul for using him in leverage in the media from the obvious leaks. I don't think there's much cause for concern but we'll see.

If they miss on all big FAs (which they will) and don't be stupid when it comes to signing second tier guys, they'll be the worst team in the NBA by a mile next year. Just keep tanking, keep getting high-end lottery picks, and keep your cap flexibility. The Knicks are fully in on The Process right now.

The cupboard isn't bare. Knox, Mitch, Frank, Trier, DS Jr, and six 1sts in the next four years. I'm not in love with all the assets but it's not like this is 2010 again. It's risky but they can have their cake and eat it too.
Agreed.

Shoot if we can do it without own draft picks, then it should be more easier and less time consuming for y’all to pull it off considering y’all have somewhat of a foundation to build off of.

Pretty good read on the Pelicans situation and how they have basically moved on for life without him already.

They keep Knox who since getting himself healthy and getting bigger minutes has played at an all-rookie team level fro them, keep Trier, keep Robinson. That's a pretty good group to start fresh with and win games while they develop.

Kemba and Middleton would be a great duo for them, especially if the draft landed them Zion. Kemba, Middleton, Knox, Zion, Robinson.
I didn’t say it would be a loss.

But you don’t make this move just get them, when they’re not max contract players. If another team wants to throw a max at them and expect them to elevate them to contender status then go ahead, but I don’t think anyone here would say “Yeah, Tobias Harris and Kris Middleton are definitely worth Max Contracts”.

Guys like that make more sense for teams that are on the cusp and the Knicks aren’t one of them.

100%, we're in a situation where we are being asked to have faith in the Knicks front office...it's terrifying.

Keeping this on deck:

If Kyrie leaves Boston, I think karma is the only appropriate word.
