I think the setup for FIFA is

Triangle/Y - Through-ball
Square/X - Cross
Circle/B - Shoot
X/A - Pass

So- is the general consensus that the console versions are better? This thread seems to be getting no love, and as someone who will be picking this up in the next week, I'd like to know if I'm missing anything.

I wouldn't say that. I just think this site is more console based when it comes to gaming.

I pretty much paid for the PC version for nothing. I uninstalled and had to do a complete system wipe because it did some funny things to my pc. Could've been the game or some patches but I'm not taking any more chances. But it was a decent game and pretty much the same as the console version except for less speed settings and couldn't add league entrance music or custom crowd chants out the box.

Couple of quick question for you pc guys.

Is the version here for download exactly the same as the European version that you would buy on a disc? I know that sometimes these direct download type games have their own separate patches and can have trouble with certain mods. Is that the case with this game, or is it basically the same as the version that comes on disc?

I believe it's the same as the one on the disc. I didn't download mine, but from what I understand there should be no difference. Any mod you download most of the time will be originiate from outside the US anyways. If you do get the PC version, I suggest going to evo-web forums and finding the patch section there.
