This should be a great game.

Seattle has the better record than Pittsburgh, they have the MVP, they have the best offense in the NFL, they shut down Steve Smith who was as ESPN put it "the best player in the playoffs". But Pittsburgh will still be the favorite.
Pitt gutted the 1-2-3 teams in the AFC, which is considered the stronger division. This included Indy (the alltime team of this year from ESPN), Cincy and Denver, traveling to each one. Seattle played 2 times at their home, beating Washington and Carolina, 5 and 6.

Pitt has been very impressive, while Seattle got an easy road. Carolina was on a roll, but you're talking about the 3 best teams in the AFC.

The AFC was considere the best conference. But Seattle hasn't had a chance to play them, so nobody knows how they stack up exactly. All the Seahawks can do is beat who is on there schedule, and that's what they have done.

I think this matchup is a good one for Seattle. They have enough offensive weapons to go along with arguably the best offensive line in football, to counteract the way the Steelers play on defense.

Also, they should be able to shut down the Steelers running game and force Ben to throw. So far Roth has proven to be up to the challenge, we'll see how this one turns out. I really like the Seahawks chances.

All I'm saying is that Pitt has looked more impressive throughout the playoffs thus far.

Obviously, beating the Colts on the road was impressive. Beating the Broncos on the road was impressive.

The Seahawks have handeled their opponets very easily, and this should be a good game.

ESPN is gonna be all over Pittsburgh's nuts, more East Coast Bias from ESPN.

Y'know, in the Pittsburgh/Denver thread, I said that Pitt was gonna win the Super Bowl without a doubt. It could still happen, but the way Seattle played today, this game could easily to either way. I think this is gonna be a competative Super Bowl, down to the wire.

Re: Seattle vs. Pittsburgh - Official Super Bowl 40 Discussion

Wow this thread filled up rather fast!

Anywho the NFC/AFC championship games were both stinkers to some degree or another. Hopefully the SB will be more entertaining.

I do think that this year's SB will be a de facto Steelers home game as I really don't see Seahawks fans travelling as well as Steeler fans. I could be totally wrong tho but I kinda want to see the surreal sight of more then half the field waving Terrible Towels.

It's going to be tough stopping Big Ben as Cowher and Wissenhunt have really opened up the playbook. It also helps that the O-line is playing great ball as well. It'll be interesting to see how Tatupu (sp?) handles setting the defense against the now more varied Steelers offensive sets.

I think that both offenses are pretty even for the most part and that it's goin g to be defense and special teams that dictate this game.
