Even if there were a stat, it would probably dispute everything you've said.

Ok, how about this: si.com publishes detailed NFL statistics (provided by STATS) that includes a breakdown based on how far the ball was thrown.

For example, here are Tony Romo's 2008 regular season numbers:

From this we can figure out the % of passes a qb threw behind the LOS (which is typically where most dump off passes are thrown). Here are the numbers for the players I listed previously:

• T. Romo 69 of 450 - 15.3%
• D. Brees 151 of 635 - 23.7%
• K. Warner 129 of 598 - 21.5%
• J. Cutler 109 of 616 - 17.6%
• D. McNabb 116 of 571 - 20.3%
• P. Rivers 100 of 478 - 20.9%
• A Rodgers 83 of 536 -15.3%

Do you still want to argue that Romo dumps it off more than most qbs?

There's no statistical avalanche. (and yes I am higher educated than you). Unless someone finds a Football Outsiders stat that specifically counts dump off passes, it hasn't been proven that Romo does not dump the ball off at a high level. I'm happy that Romo apologists find a silver lining in the cold reality that Romo has choked away the Cowboys season for the past three years.
