Freakin' Romo wasn't even good enough to play D1-A ball!

There are more Eli Mannings out there than Tom Bradies. Nothing is about to change.

Top 8 in 2006 had 4 first rounders and 1 guy that was 1st pick in the 2nd round. (Peyton, Palmer, McNabb Brees, Rivers), Top 3 in 2005 were all first rounders (Peyton, Palmer, Big Ben), Top 5 in 2004 were 4 first rounders and Brees., Top 6 in 2003 had 4 first rounders.

Exactly. Roughly half of the starters in the NFL were first round picks, and probably 5 more were first day picks.

Are there diamonds in the rough? Yes. Are there great quarterbacks that are second day picks? Yes. Should you bet on drafting Brady, Bulger, or Romo? No.

Also remember that most later round picks are allowed to sit on the bench for a few years, not the one year and you're in. Would Romo or Bulger have been as good as they are/were if they didn't get to sit for 3-4 years? Probably not.

Plus all the guy he mentions besides Romo are older than Eli, Rivers, Carr, Young, and Grossman. Basically, it's another praise Tony Romo post disguised in an "objective" post. To label Eli, Rivers, and Young failures this early into their career is stupid.

That's exactly what it is. Although it's debatable whether it's even disguised.

In Rivers case for example he's a second year starter coming off a Pro Bowl year, with a new coaching staff. What exactly were you expecting?

Eli, is playing with a Giants offense, that lost arguably their best player to retirement and has been dealing with injuries. Not sure Tony Romo would be doing any better in that situation than Eli is.

Vince Young is in his second year in the league.. Wow a second year QB battling consistency in the NFL. That's a new one.

Actually who cares about Tony Romo. Put Romo on the Dolphins team and they are probably still without a win. Goes back to my saying that sometimes its not which QB gets drafted as opposed to what team they wind up starting for. Eli could be playing in Dallas right now and have close to the same success as Romo is now... then again maybe not. You never know. There are too many things to factor in.

There's no doubt about it. And lets face it 99% of the time, teams drafting at the top of the draft taking these guys are bad teams, and bad teams for a reason.

Don't think it's a coincidence though the last two SB winning QB's were taken in the first round.

Look back at the last 10 Super Bowls. 8 of them had at least 1 QB starting who was a high draft pick.
