Parcells in Atlanta or Miami hmmmmm

According to Jay Glazer (I know, I know; not a great source) Arthur Blank has made overtures to bring Bill Parcells to the Falcons in a front office capacity. Knowing Parcells he'll probably want a crack at coaching so I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the sidelines. The Dolphins are also eyeing Parcells for the same kind of position and power in Miami. Either way we could see the Tuna involved in the NFL once again, possibly as early as next month.

I just hope he doesn't try coaching. I think as a coach he's past his prime but there's no doubting his skills as a talent evaluator and if i'm an NFL owner i'd give the guy as much power as he wants. If I were Parcells i'd take the Falcons position if only because that team is younger and could probably be fixed sooner then the Dolphins who are in flux defensively (they're pretty old there) while the offense can be fixed relatively quickly. I think the Falcons have better and younger pieces to work with.

I agree about the coaching aspect. Tuna has a good eye for talent. But I don't think his dictatorial way of coaching isn't going to work anymore. Plus, I don't feel he really has the desire necessary to stick to it on the sidelines. Last thing Atl & Miami needs is for a HC to bolt suddenly again.

An update on Mike & Mike says the Falcon deal is all but done. Quote from Parcells, "I don't see any deal breakers here."

I'm also in the school of thought that he should handle personel, but not be a coach.

Apparently he refered to it as being a 'triangle' - the HC, GM and himself.

Kinda like Dan Reeves 'consulting' the Texans but staying on instead? Why doesn't he just push for an all out GM job.

I think he is really going to stack the Falcons quickly. As long as he doesn't bring a bunch of his old Parcells' guys they are going to get some young talent fast.

He's already said he doesn't have any interest in coaching again... he's a great front office guy though, and someone that Atlanta could really use to turn the franchise around.

Mainly because Rich McKay (who does deserve some blame for the Falcons problems of late) still has a lot of capital and good will among NFL people is too well liked to just throw to the curb. Parcells is going to have way more power then what Reeves has with the Texans.
