It's a big deal, but I dunno, they did need to do something. Russell needed more than Curry, Miller and a rookie to throw to. Besides, if you're paying Berrian $6M a year, Walker for $9M isn't so insane. The injury is the concern and while it definitely is risky, at least Walker's proven maximum potential return is a pro bowl player. Apparently more than half of the deal is paid out in the first 3 years anyway so he wouldn't be overly expensive to cut after year 3.

Davis is throwing an awful lot of money around though. Makes you wonder if Nnamdi is meant to be extended soon because that's another huge deal waiting.

Nnamdi will get extended. I think there is a good chance they franchised him with the intent of doing a long term deal later (when the cap goes up).

Not only is he one of the best corners in the league (which Al Davis believes you build a team around) he's a model citizen and a loyal soldier in the Davis regime, which historically has been rewarded.

Oakland has a myriad of problems, but Al Davis being stingy with his players has never been one of them.

Its an awful lot of money. Just like Tommy Kelly and Gibril Wilson. BUT, its money the Raiders have to spend to get people to play in Oakland. We're coming back, its just going to be an awfully expensive comeback. And now they're probably not going to be able to afford that Number 4 overall. Rumor has it they're going to trade down for Dallas' two 1st round picks (I didn't know Dallas had two?) so the 'Boys are in a better position to grab McFadden whom is more and more likely to fall further in the draft after the Falcons signed Michael Turner to big money and still have Norwood.

I just wish Mr. Davis didn't create this conundrum so often. He has such a solid foundation in place, only HE can destroy it.

Someone needs to tell the crypt keeper that paying 50 mill + for guys with knee problems is a BAD idea.

I really like Walker, and really like watching the Raiders win, so I hope that he can help to make that happen. At least they should still have a good run attack next season.

If he is leaving due to Darrent's death, then that is fine.

If he is leaving due to our terrible season, then **** him. He won't get anything better in Oakland.
