Re: Kurt Warner almost retired...

He'd probably do more for his receivers' safety than his own by retiring. He has a really bad habit of leaving his receivers hung out to dry with some of his throws.

Warner's career has been one of the more interesting ones in NFL history. From a grocery store worker to Super Bowl MVP, and now he's a guy who could retire or even get benched at a moment's notice, but when he's not contemplating retirement or flirting with a benching, he's throwing for almost 500 yards on Sundays and putting up stud numbers. Very weird career.

Re: Kurt Warner almost retired...

From what I've seen of Kurt, he's been a stand up QB. He probably took 100% responsibility for Boldin's injury. I thought it was a nicely thrown ball that had an unfortunate outcome. How was he supposed to know that Eric Smith was gonna make the tackle strictly with his helmet?

Anyway, I glad he decided to stay. He's still got the fire even at age 37. He's definately an upgrade to the QB's we've had in the past. Like Josh McCown...talk about leaving receivers out to dry. Every pass I've seen McCown make was hail mary like, and his receivers always had to wait for the ball and go up to get it.

Just a class act. A devout christian (when his job is primarly on sundays.) Then this??? No one and I mean NO ONE in the league would even flirt with the thought of retirement after something like this. Just shows what kind of character this man has. He never fails to impress me.

I agree with most here, Warner is a very classy guy and he took responsibility for the Boldin injury. At least he didn't go off and retire because I think that would've been unfortunate. He may look like a bionic QB with the gloves and other such things to keep him on the field (kinda like Montana in '89) but he still gets the job done. I want to see the Cards make the playoffs with Warner at the helm.

Re: Kurt Warner almost retired...

I can imagine alot of people feel taht way. He threw the pass that had Boldin get hit and laying prone on the field, that cant be a good feeling. Just like the guy that hit Kevin Everett, not what you want to live with.

Everett was the one trying to make a tackle when he got hurt, so I think it's very different.

what's amazing about the Everett thing is that the guy he made the hit on was Dominik Hixon. he apparently took it very hard and it was messing with his head. wasn't until the broncos released him and he caught on with the giants last year that he turned it around. now look what he's doing on the field.
