How are they ruining his career? Look at his numbers. He best fits on a team where he's the man. His numbers seem to increase since Roy left town. The Lions are abysmal, but he is their game plan. He'll put up numbers but no wins, land a huge contract in free agency and be fine.

No doubt he's going to get a big contract...but what if the Lions Franchise him?

It's only his second year. He still has a lot of career left.

You're talking about the guy who caught passes from Reggie Ball. He knows how to wotk with a bad QB

I meant he's getting a big contract regardless...I meant if he really wanted to leave Detroit, being Franchised wouldn't be a good thing for him.

Re: I will give up if the Lion's ruin CJ's career

LarryF and Andre say "welcome to the club". Premium freaky WR's are almost uniquely prone to this because they are rare players and hence are picked early by a bad team, but unlike most QBs of similar draft prospect status, they can perform great but still be on a terrible team. Other positions likewise but not to the same extent as QB generally.

WR's just aren't important enough to a team's success. They make a good team great, but not a bad team good. It won't be the last time a bad team is tempted by a freaky WR, it'll probably happen again in April with Crabtree.
