Will Lorenzo Neal be elected to the Hall of Fame?

I don't listen to Mike and Mike that much but I just so happen to catch it today but they made a good point on there. After seeing how important punting really is this past weekend, it is a shame that he can't even be considered for it. Like on of Mikes said, what's the point of calling it the PRO FOOTBAL Hall of Fame when your only letting skill positioned players in there. If they had been going by this standard all along, you might as well take out half the people in there.

I think there are other FBs who'd deserve to get in over Neal. John L Williams (Seattle), Mike Alstott & Larry Centers had more productive careers and if you want to throw in a pure-blocker, it'd have to be Daryl Johnston going in first. In Johnston's case, he paved the way for the all time leading rusher, but much like Neal, it's hard to get those guys in because of their lack of actual stats even though they were integral to their offenses.

It's a shame more of these guys don't make it in, but the NFL is stat driven and most HOF'ers nowadays are the skill positions, which is a just plain sad.

People take away too much from specialized roles as if they don't matter, but like SPTO said, if a Kicker can get in, then why not?

If you were the best at what you did and you did it for a long time, you deserve a look. Reality is though, Centers is never getting in, Neal is probably never getting in, but Alstott has an outside chance because he did run with the football effectively for a blocking Fullback at some points in his career. Plus, being a 6-Time Pro Bowler, and 3 Time All-Pro is going to go a long way.
