I wonder if this English pick means they aren't planning on Merriman being back at 100% or if they aren't planning to extend him? Or is Shaun Phillips now expendable?
This is exactly what I was telling some friends after the pick. It has insurance written all over it to me.

I wanted the Ravens to take him but ohh well. I didn't think he'd go off the board that early. But I really see English as a guy that is going to make an impact right away. I think he'll come in and start for you guys. And having Merriman back with English on the other side should be beast.

they aren't planning to extend him?

Would be my vote. I am sure he will ask for the moon and stars next contract negotiations. Also AJ can't be happy with the LB's on the roster givin their pathetic sack numbers last year.

Yup Shaun Phillips looked awful ordinary last year, and I am betting AJ wants a do over on the contract extension he gave Jyles Tucker.

So, I'll just wait and see.
I like the potshots at anyone who would disagree with AJ's picks.

Let's put it this way, he's looke less like a genius these past few years, and has more misses than hits when it comes to reaches.

I hope not. I hope merriman comes back beastin with the rook on the other side if he makes a impact right away. I don't know what to say for shawn phillips other than its a business.

If Merriman doesn't come back strong then english will take over if he can contribute, but if Merriman comes back beastin and shawn is sub-par you best believe he will lose his position to the rook.

Prayin Merriman comes back better than before or at leat still the same.

How is it a potshot? Of course you would know better than me Obi Won.

Let's be honest, if it's not the sexy guy that all the dudes on NFLN or ESPN have thrown up on their mocks over the last 12 weeks than people will question the pick.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say all the NFL GM's have done far more homework on each and every one of these players than you, me, and "Joe Blow wannabe GM" have done combined.
