Re: Rams Officially for sale

Let's move them here to Austin! We're the largest city in the country without a major sports team.

Sorry but Austin is the 47th TV market, too small.

And have two NFL teams within 200 miles.

Depends on what you think of two New York teams not actually playing in New York at all. But the fact remains it's too massive market for anyone to just ignore because teams in the past have not fully worked out.

It's like a 90,000 plus seat stadium dude. It's not likely any sporting event short of a Superbowl would sell it out.

And jmood88, yeah...LA likes to support winners. But do you think anybody plans on buying the team with the intent of losing? Not likely.

Several of teams play in suburbs. I would assume an LA football team would too.

And it's been working just fine ignoring LA for the last 15 years.

You don't know much about college football, do you?

Not really. And have admitted as much in a couple of college football threads, but I take it by your smarmy comment college does good attendance numbers. Thanks for sharing.

I'll return the favor...New Jersey is not a suburb of New York. It's a different state.

Tennessee & Michigan regular see 100,000+ for their games. I think Penn St, Ohio St are close to 6 figures as well. Those are college towns. USC is in one of the largest metropolises in the world.

Los Angeles isn't anxious to get in the NFL. Owners like LA being out there, because its a bargaining chip to extort these exorbitant welfare stadiums from their local city government.

I don't know what a "smarmy" comment is, but 90,000 isn't anything crazy in college football, as 4 schools average over 100,000 and a few more over 90,000. There are about 5 more schools who, if they had 7 straight top 4 seasons, could easily move into the 90,000 by slightly expanding their stadiums.

And as John said, those are college towns where people travel hours to go to games. Given the tens of millions in the LA area and the extremely high caliber of football USC plays, they should easily sell out.

And a large portion of New Jersey is considered a suburb of New York.

This is also seen in the DC area as Virginia and Maryland both contain DC suburbs. I would assume Chicago's metro area moves into other states as well.
