If that was the case (And it wouldn't surprise me), I can't blame Haley one bit. From what I've seen, and what I've heard on local radio and from other people who were at camp, Thigpen has looked pretty horrible so far this pre-season.

With as secretive as the team is, we'll probably never know what happened unless Gailey comes out and says something. Be nice to know why they decided to make the change now, but I'm not expecting them to come out and say it.

Todd Haley is an absolute control freak with a really short temper. And I'm not saying that is a bad thing.

He had numerous run-ins with Terrell Owens and Anquan Boldin, as well as other players. He patterns himself exactly after Bill Parcells, but with a meaner disposition.

Run-ins with guys like that would be a sure sign of somebody with short temper. I can't see how anyone would have issues with them.

but he handled both these guys pretty well. Strong personalities are needed with certain players.

I always liked Chan play calling going back when he was the Steelers coordinator.

Re: Chiefs fire offensive coordinator, Chan Gailey

I think Haley was WAY too much on his plate now—quarterbacks coach, offensive coordinator, AND head coach?!? And he's never been a head coach before?

Chan Gailey did an outstanding job last year adapting the offense to the ragtag misfits they had, as they were able to move the ball and put some points on the board with the spread.

Not saying this won't work out for the best in the long term, but this season is going to be a disaster for the Chiefs. Another 2-14 season sounds about right.

QB coach and OC is one and the same if you have a young QB like Cassel starting and a young backup in Thigpen so it's really just 2 jobs on his plate. There's been a few guys who's done well with the coordinator job and HC job rolled into one so it's not that HUGE of a deal IMO.
