Playing as a 4-3 DT would probably help (which he still can in nickel and dime packages) but I still maintain that a great player can thrive in any system. Zach Thomas played as a MLB in a 4-3 and a 3-4 ILB despite his lack of size. I think niche players tend to do better in certain schemes but if you have talent, you will show it no matter how they use you.

I look at a guy like Vonnie Holliday who has gone from a 4-3 DE to a 3-4 DE and 4-3 DT. He wasn't a truly great player but a solid one that can play in a variety of ways. The bottom line as a DL is to whip the guy across from you. Can Dorsey whip his opponent in the NFL is the multi-million dollar question. If he's not getting it done in KC then I really doubt he will do much better somewhere else. Outside of QB, there aren't too many players teams give up on that go on to be stars.

Re: Glenn Dorsey On Trading Block?

Dorsey was compared to Warren Sapp by the so called experts which was way off base. Sapp had one of the fastest first steps combined with his intital punch. That combination made him a one man pocket crusher. Dorsey is none of that. He is more like Chris Hovan, guys who malled there way into the backfield in college and struggled to find sucess on the pro level. Can Dorsey turn in around? Sure, but thats up to him.

I'm so glad the Saints weren't able to trade up for him. With the defenses that Gregg Williams runs he would be useless.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Re: Glenn Dorsey On Trading Block?

Glenn Dorsey is a 4-3 def type player not a 3-4, man chiefs is ready get rid of everybody damn. Maybe they need to fire their def coord and get one that runs a 4-3. 4-3 to me is design for finesse DT(which Glenn Dorsey is) that have speed to get to the QB, while 3-4 DT have to be big dude more like a run stopper, same thing with DE who are mostly former DT themselves.

Chiefs need to change their def because they dont have the players to run a 3-4 def especially upfront.

They should've never traded away Jared Allen in the first place.

So true. What a mistake.

How is Tyson Jackson doing in KC? I thought that was an incredible reach at #3.
