The verdict is obviously still out on VY. I have no idea why you are acting like his career is over.

as far as comparing McCoy and Young simply because they play at the same school, that is pretty ridiculous. They are different players with different skill sets.

QB is the most difficult position to project to the NFL. The draft is a crap shoot when it comes to QBs. Much of it depends on what team and what system McCoy is drafted to when it comes to what kind of success he will have in the league. McCoy will need to fall into a good situation in order to be successful, just like every other QB, but he can make all of the throws.

McCoy is not a Top 5 pick.

Are we positive he's even a 1st day pick?

I still think VY has a chance to be a good QB. I was talking about he used to will the Horns to victory, similar to Tebow. That's something you really can't do in the NFL, IMO.

I think McCoy can be a great NFL QB too. I just don't think he's going to be a high draft pick coming out. For some reason the knock on McCoy has been lack of arm strength. I don't see it. He seems to have a very strong arm to me.

Re: Where would Colt McCoy fit in the NFL??

he could be decent if he went to a team that runs EVERY play from the shotgun. ??? cfl here he comes...seriously tho, he will need major work. the spread offense every big 12 team seems in love with these days allows for great numbers in college but doesn't translate to the nfl, simple as that...

I have no idea where McCoy will be drafted. A lot of it will come down to how he tests at the combine. As far as how successful he will be in the league, there is no telling. Projecting a QB to the NFL is such a crap shoot. There are so many determining factors, including being drafted into the right situation.

but why did you add sentences to my quote that I didnt say? I didnt say this: "For some reason the knock on McCoy has been lack of arm strength. I don't see it. He seems to have a very strong arm to me."...but you put it in my quote like I did say it

it's not "as simple as that"

For example, Ben Roethlisberger played in a spread offense in college. He has been pretty successful in the NFL

and there are types of "spreads" in the NFL currently. The Patriots' and the Colts' offenses have a lot of "spread" elements. The Pats actually utilize many of the same schemes as Texas Tech.

For the most part, spread offenses in college are relatively new, and they are starting to really evolve. There are different types of spreads, so it's not nearly as simple as saying "QBs that play in any variation of the spread in college cant succeed in the NFL". It depends on the individual player, their skill set, and the team that drafts them as to whether they can succeed in the league.

On topic: I'm a UT fan, but I see McCoy as a mid round pick. I think someone in need of a QB will take a chance on him in the 2nd round.
I still like Vince Young. I don't care what your stats are. When you're 18-11 or whatever as a starter, you're doing something right.

when a player is one of only 3 players in the history of the NFL to win at least 8 games in each of their first two seasons in the league then folks certainly need to hold off on writing him off just yet
