When Eli Demanded His Trade Back in '04..

Why was Eli so adamant about not playing for San Diego?

I think it was because Drew Brees was in San Diego and Eli didn't want to sit on the bench for a couple years.

EDIT: Nevermind.. guess this isn't the reason..

At that time SD was a pretty dysfunctional franchise. The Mannings (Archie in particular) were warned away from SD for a variety of reasons. You can probably dig up some old stuff from the net that has the greasy details.

Re: When Eli Demanded His Trade Back in '04..

They blamed the front office. Which is funny because the FO had somewhat calmed down by that point.

They made a move to get Manning in to the media capital of the country. It's no accident he was traded to the Giants instead of say Cleveland or Jacksonville or another small market.

It was a move by the family to bully the Chargers in to getting him in to a large market and it worked.

And I am glad it did. I'd take Rivers any day of the week.

I am not sure why. Eli does nothing better than Rivers. But great.

Dude's got ice in his veins. Philip doesn't seem to be very mature to me. Reminds me of Jay Cutler really.

I have no idea how you would come to that conclusion. But again, no worries by me.
