Thats a really good point. I meant with the talent around him ,but his understanding of the system give him a huge edge. It was a prefect match and maybe its why Im not blow away like most I really expected this. Once I found out Favre was injuried with the Jets and he was going to the Vikes who ran the same system he did in GB I thought he would be sucessful (maybe not this much).

Not true.

I'm a Packer fan, and I love Brett Favre. I hate Ted Thompson, though.

Both Favre and Thompson though made the right moves. Favre proved he could play longer and Thompson proved Rodgers was ready to be given the starters keys.

I dislike Thompson for other moves or lack thereof.

This sheds light on Favre's biggest flaw. The "playing the right way" myth. As far as his TD:INT, this is his best year ever. Why? @ 40? W/no training camp? Because he now knows he's not going to get a pass. He's had 1000yd runners before. He's had a good line before. He's been in this system before.

But after last year. After putting 3 franchises in hostage situations. After tossing away the Jets playoff hopes w/his picks. And after probably costing his coach his job because of not making it to the postseason, he knows he's not the public's Golden Boy anymore. He's not going to get praised after a turnover for being Brett Favre. The Gunslinger. The Gambler.

That's the seflishness he had as a player. He didn't care. As long as Brett was having fun. But its no fun when you have to take the blame. Now there will be accountability. He's playing for a city's fans who hated him previously. A public is watching him who cringe whenever his name is brought up. If he has a 1:1 ratio now, he's going to get it. Hard. & ain't no vaseline going to make that position easy to take.

That's why he's doing so well. That's why he's valueing the ball. And that's why he was a selfish, jerk.

That's one.

About acquiring some key veteran personnel in case of key injuries that a team may go through(ie, like the situation we are in now) instead of relying on rookies.

Some of this stuff you can find your own links for since it's all over the internet and it's not my job to direct people toward info that's been right in their face all along. And it's not easy to find specific press conferences dating back several years.

- We can start with Favre's hypocritical criticism of Javon Walker for missing camp and holding out. Favre is notorious for missing camp and doing (or saying) whatever he has to in order to get out of offseason work (we'll get back to this later).

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/7726454/

- Due to the fact that Favre had begun PUBLICLY pondering retirement, the Packers draft Aaron Rodgers. Favre obviously takes offense and can't understand why his talk would cause a team (a franchise worth almost a billion dollars) to begin preparing for his departure. He feels threatened and takes it out on Rodgers. His treatment of Rodgers is well documented and says publicly it is not his job to help mentor him. Here's Favre's announcement that he would, in fact, play the 06 season.......for those that would say that Ted Thompson drafted Rogers simply to try to force Favre out.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2421947

- I would call attention to arrogant statements by Favre over the last few offseasons that were indicators of what was to come. Statements like "I can play here as long as I want" and "what're they gonna do....cut me?". These type of comments gave a glimpse into Favre's sense of entitlement. Can't find the pressers on youtube but ask any Packers fan and they should verify it. This is the point where I began to first seperate image from reality with Favre. For years I was a huge Favre fan but these kinds of statements made me start doing double-takes and I began to see him in a different light.

- After his intitial "retirement" the rumors start surfacing.....****mors generating by Favre's camp. Favre knows he wants to play. Favre knows the Packers are hard at work preparing for the coming season and basing much upon his absence (including having drafted 2 QB's fill out the depth chart). So what does he do? He denies the rumors, something that would become a trend with him. This gives another window into his arrogance and sense of entitlement.......the very idea that he believed he was justified in stringing along an organization worth almost a billion dollars. Below are statements by him spanning from April 08 to July 08.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...ial/index.html

http://www.wsoctv.com/sports/16822003/detail.html

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/25501456/

- July 8th: So finally Favre tells the Packers of his intention to come back......5 days after denying these "rumors" in 2 of the links posted above.......which he continued denying even after telling David Letterman on april 24th that "Something's bound to happen".

- Here are a couple of timelines of events.

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/29418054.html

http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/...KR&located=RSS

- Favre turns bitter at the realization that the Packers aren't going to just drop everything to accomodate him. He decides he's going to try and either force his way back onto the Packers or force a release (so he can sign with Minnesota). He also begin slamming the Packers in the press. Most notably:

The Greta Van Susteran Interview

He goes on Greta Van Susteran ( in the the biggest and most obvious fluff piece of all time). In this interview he says the following:

He starts accusing Ted Thompson of "forcing him out" , a laughable assertion given Favre's history of retirement statements as well as his tearful retirement ceremony.

He says it "should have come as no surprise" that he'd have second thoughts.....even though he was publicly calling a comeback "just rumors" 3 days prior to his July 8th announcement that he wanted to come back.

He implies that drafting Flynn and Brohm was a signal from TT that he wasn't wanted......even though they were drafted over a month after his retirement presser.

Favre also admits in the interview that on JUNE 30th he made his "give me my helmet or give me my release" statement to the Packers, so keep in mind that i've posted several links to statements proving he was continuing to deny comeback rumors for several weeks after this point.

He goes on to make the statement of the decade, that when he retired ......."them moving on does not bother me. It doesn't. I totally understand that. That was the -- by me retiring March 3, I knew that that could possibly happen". WOW. Consider the last part of that statement. In his mind it was only a possibility that a billion dollar NFL franchise might move on without him. If that isn't the absolute height of arrogance and ego-tism i don't know what is. Moving on........

He makes another mind-boggling statement even after all that has transpired and after he told the team he wants to play.....he says "And I may very well not play, Greta". So he's still playing the denial card......contradicting himself in ROYAL FASHION almost 10 days after he and Bus Cook told the Packers via conference call that he wanted to play.

Favre gets visibly upset when asked if he'd be open to competing for the starting job and responds with "why?". He would soon make another contradictory statement to the press that "all I ever wanted was a chance to compete for the job".

He accuses Ted Thompson of being dishonest (that's rich coming from Favre), but offers no specifics of any kind to back that assertion.

I could spend even more time picking apart Favre's outright contradictions and lies just based on this interview alone but i'm quite sure i've made my point. Here's the complete transcript of the interview:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,384601,00.html

- On August 3rd he pulls a huge A-hole move by attending the Packers' Family Night scrimmage in an attempt to play the crowd and fans against Packers management.....which is inlcuded in an above-posted timeline. We all remember the heavy coverage of Favre getting off the plane from Hattiesburg doing his Conquering Hero entrance with him and his wife waving to the small crowd of supporters on the tarmac. Deanna Favre reminds me alot of Cap Rooney's wife from Any Given Sunday. A fame leech.

- We find out that the Vikes are the team of Favre's choice, according to Peter King.....despite his repeated denials of this in the Greta interview. And on a sidenote it's interesting to point out this poll of residents of Minnesota taken just before the "Bretta" interview. Interesting to note that only 29% of respondants say they wanted Favre as a Viking. Bandwagon jumpers much? LOL.

http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/46082197.html

- So we can cut to Favre's trade to the Jets, where he continued his track record for douche baggery. We found out after the season that Brett continued demonstrating his "veteran leadership" by dressing in a private office away from his teammates.

- We find out via Jay Glazer that Favre tried helping matt Millen and the Lions gameplan for the Packers. Favre, of course, denied it but admits speaking with Matt Millen and claims that "this sort of thing happens all the time". And for those that would attack Glazer's credibility on this issue....I challenge you to name a story he's been busted on for being wrong. Glazer of course stood by his story "1000 %". A couple of interesting sidenotes include ESPN's intitial resistance to covering this story and then their subsequent decision to run with it, and Detroit's response of "no comment" to this story is VERY telling. No outright denial by the team.

http://deadspin.com/5067118/brett-fa...glazer-and-you

http://blogs.jsonline.com/packers/ar...avre-reax.aspx

- Week 12. Favre and the Jets beat the undefeated Titans. He's feeling triumphant. Remember all those public statements he made about how he wasn't trying to stick it to Ted Thompson and the Packers? He finally admits it. That's funny, the facts prove Favre wrote his own ticket out of Green Bay and that he's a bitter child....the equivelant of a spoiled little brat who didn't get his way.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...x.html?eref=T1

- Remember the "LeBron handshake snub"? Rememebr how badly he was skewered by the press and fans for that? Well Brett Favre did the same thing in Week 17 after Pennington and the Jets eliminated the Jets from playoff contention. But of course Favre got a free pass from everybody on that one. The announcers even heap praise on "the iconic figure" as he ran off the field in the act of snubbing Pennington.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_6zx...eature=related

- Favre "retires" again on February 10th. Interesting that it already comes out that Favre and Bus Cook (Gilligan and the Skipper) are already angling for a release. Hmmmm. I wonder why. Could it be that he's already angling for a move to the Vikes? Naaaaahhhh. Couldn't be.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/fo...g_to_reti.html

- About a week later he tells Peter King that he could never come back again with another team because "as good as Mike Tannenbaum has been to me, I could never bring myself to do it". He again acknowledges his childish desire to stick it to TT and the Packers.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...vre/index.html

- April 29th 2009. Brett Favre has secured his release from the Jets. He says of this development that "Nothing has changed. At this time, I am retired and have no intention of returning to football." Keep this date in mind. April 29th.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4108844

- Really? No intention of returning to football huh Brett? Well that certainly is odd because your family made a huge reservation at the Motor Lodge in Green Bay the first week of April for the 2009 Vikings/Packers game at Lambeau........about THREE WEEKS PRIOR to your release from the Jets. You read that right, when Favre made the above statement his family had already had reservations for about 3 weeks for that game. Tampering anyone? Amazing that the Jets never called Favre or the Vikings on this, even after they had to take a fine over the supposed "cover up" of his injury. And in true NFL fashion the league just swept it under the rug and hoped nobody would notice.

http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/.../90608160/1058

- And finally, let's cut to this summer with the talks between Favre and the Vikings. Remember the famous decision by Favre to stay retired shortly before the start of training camp? Well Jay Glazer (who literally owns Brett Favre and has busted Favre repeatedly in mistake-free fashion) spent some time at Vikings camp and came away with the utter certainty that Favre was coming back to the team. This report came august 18th.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9...ould-come-back

- Well, the cat is out of the bag and it turns out that , YET AGAIN, Favre's denials of a return are all smoke and mirrors......and likely just an elaborate attempt at avoiding offseason work while his teammates sweat it out. Once again Jay Glazer has scooped all of Favre's media sycophants like Ed Werder, Trey Wingo, Peter King, etc. So rather than going to camp and learning the system and getting to know his teammates he's feigning retirement and throwing balls to high schoolers. Favre finally comes out and signs with teh Vikings and lo and behold.......a contract is already in place with ALL THE CONTRACT DETAILS already worked out. In one morning. How convenient. This is April 19th....the very next day after Glazer's report. Even Chris Carter flat out called him a liar over this very point on First Take. Chris Carter knows it takes longer than a couple of hours one morning to work out the fine print of an NFL contract for a marquee player like Favre.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4406963

Keep in mind I can post NUMEROUS other quotes by Favre denying a comeback to the Vikings.....all of which were made AFTER his family's reservations were made at the Motor Lodge in Green Bay.

So, in closing, if some want to continue believing that Favre is some golden boy who's "child like innocence and love and joy for the game" are who this guy really is......then by all means keep your head in the sand. The facts prove otherwise. The guy's having a great year and I can't take that away from him. But I have zero respect for him as a human being.
