I don't know what's to think about.

It works for every other sport...

Why are they just thinking about this now? I like it, why wouldn't you like it.

Not a fan of this either. Goodell messing with things that don't need to be changed as usual.

Agreed... just like the overtime thing. Don't have a problem with either but don't think they were necessary.

Re: NFL Thinking About Ending Season With Divisional Matchups

And if you're a good team in a crap division...is it really going to matter?

Or if you've clinched already.

Or if it's that logjammed mess the AFC was last year - the divisional part was just one of many scenarios that had to play out.

I'd rather week 17 be "open" so that teams who are fighting for playoff berths played each other - or at least teams with same/similar records. No more Team A playing craptastic team B while Team C plays the another contender in Team D and Team E plays a mediocre 6-9 team in Team F

Instead, Teams A, C, D, and F would play each other on week 17.

Guess that would be a scheduling nightmare, but I would like this idea more than just trying to force teams to play players on week 17 especially since it won't necessarily matter even in seeding (if you're two up with one game left - you've got your seed, divisional game or not - so what would it change?)

Re: NFL Thinking About Ending Season With Divisional Matchups

but a team like the bengals pretty much was guaranteed a spot because by week 10 they had defeated all the teams in their division. then they went on slide of losing games.

i have to say though if the season is ending with two teams fighting for that divisonal crown it makes it for a better game. you will always have the indy winning in a crap division or some years New England, but i think each division is leveling out and their won't be alot of that. Honestly the NFC East, AFC West,AFC North, are usually tight, the rest are divisions with one maybe two decent teams that might make a run into the playoffs.
