It seems to me like a left the team on Thursday but, didn't report that he was quitting until Friday. That's all.

Questions were first raised when Coffee was a no-show for practice Thursday afternoon. It's not clear how the absence fit into Coffee's decision to leave.

I can't for the life of me understand why everyone is ok with this BLATANT double standard.
Well those are the rules the NFLPA, of which I assume Coffee was a member since he was in Madden, agreed to in their last CBA. NFL k's are NOT guaranteed, the only portion that is guaranteed is the signing bonus, and as Michael Vick found out and Glen Coffee is about to find out, those are subject to refund for breach of k.

At least it looks like the Niner's will get back some of his signing bonus.

I think it's a 50/50 chance that he will be back at practice come Monday. we shall see....
This post makes my head hurt. Wow.

Sorry if it's not clear but he was a "no show" on Thursday. He didn't officially tell the team until Friday. That's what I meant by quitting without explanation.

I said that there's a 50/50 chance of him coming back because how many other athletes/entertainer's these days have "retired" only to come back at a later date?

Outside of that I don't know what would make your head hurt. Perhaps you should see a doctor for that

I think it's hurting because my wisdom teeth are breaking through.

Yeah, that's it.

Football is a sport/game, your suppose to have fun playing it and he doesn't like it anymore. Let him do what he wants to do, there's more to life.

Re: Glenn Coffee retires...

The guy is doing what he wants with his life period. He shouldn't have to give back a dime of what he has already made unless the contract specifically states such a stipulation at retirement. Every game check he doesn't play for this season will not go to him. He retired he didnt just walk away and is violating his contract. This is not a Kentwan Balmer situation folks. retirement isn't quitting.

No, retirement at his age is a euphemism for quitting. He owes the team is signing bonus, period.

If he pays it back, I have no problem with him.
