Icon5 Tomlinson's Legacy

So, I know he still has one more year with the Jets, and they should still be a playoff caliber team next year, but after ten years in the league, is LT's legacy pretty much set? In ten career playoff games, he's rushed 131 times for 468 yards and six TDs, as well as caught 25 passes for 176 yards and one TD. Even as a Charger fan, I was still pulling for him to get his ring this year (despite my hatred for the Jets).

Barring an amazing postseason from him next year with a ring to cap it all off, will LT always be remembered as a top tier RB during the regular season who just can't get it done in January?

Re: Tomlinson's Legacy

He'll be remembered as a top tier running back.

look pretty solid to me.. 3.6 ypc and 7 ypr ... my question is why only 15.5 touches per game? that doesn't sound right?

I think that's because he was also a threat in the passing game. Hell, in '03 he had 100 receptions!

Averaging 46.8 ypg? Compared to his regular season numbers, that's pathetic. Almost 40 yards less.

He also took himself out of the playoff game against the Patriots in 06-07, while Rivers played on a torn acl and Gates played through an injury too. Great regular season player, huge disappointment in the playoffs.

i said touches not carries, it was ~ 13 carries and 2.5 catches ... per game... for LT...

thats not enough touches.

although i don't follow the chargers so obviously i don't know the circumstances.

Re: Tomlinson's Legacy

I don't really think playoff games matter to much in the running back position IMO. He would still be a HOF running back even if he never had the chance to even appear in a playoff game.

When I think about Tomlinson's legacy the first thing that pops into my head isn't what he did in the playoffs but, just what he could do the field for such a long period of time.
