Re: OS NFL Poll: Week 1
Mine is definitely personal opinion on how the season will play out with tons of bias, so please don't crucify me, lol.
#1 Baltimore - Destruction of Pittsburgh is nothing to scoff at, Baltimore was one of my SB favorites pre-season and they looked even better than I expected.
#2 Chicago - Destruction of Atlanta has reminded people just how good this team is. I don't expect to see Chicago in the SB tbh, but Cutler and co. are definitely contenders.
#3 New England - Brady is the best in the game. Anyone who argues with this is just kidding themselves no matter how much they dislike the team. Their defense didn't look too good last night, but the Pats are always contenders.
#4 Green Bay - I know they just won the Super Bowl, and Rodgers is legit one of the best in the game but I just don't think they'll be able to repeat as champions. I could be wrong here, and my confidence with them at four is very low.
#5 San Diego - This is by far the most biased pick so far, but they're my rankings so sue me. Our defense is very good, and offense among the best in the NFL although they looked pretty sloppy on Sunday. Still though, we won't know what to expect from SD 'til after the first five games.
#6 Philadelphia - Dream team claims are laughable at best, but Philly is still very explosive and should have another fantastic season from Michael Vick. They'll also do nothing in the playoffs since Vick is their QB. I don't want to hear any Rivers jokes here either dammit!
#7 New Orleans - Brady may be the best, but with Manning out Brees has taken the spot of second best. Brees is unbelievable and almost single-handedly beat the defending Super Bowl champions. Although the running game still is a question mark, any team with a Brees at QB is a contender.
#8 New York Jets - Although the Cowboys pretty much went ahead and beat themselves, the Jets still had a solid opening weekend and they still boast one of the more impressive defenses in the league. Mark Sanchez also turns it way up come playoff time, so who knows where the season ends for Rex Ryan and co.
#9 Pittsburgh - Yes, they were embarrassed and beat down by their biggest rival but there is a reason that doesn't happen to the Steelers often. I fully expect Big Ben and friends to come back with a vengeance, also Mike Tomlin is one of the most underrated coaches in the league.
#10 Atlanta - Just like Pittsburgh, a season opening beatdown has many forgetting just how good this team is. Ryan is on his way to elite status, Michael Turner is a beast, Roddy White is right up there with Larry Fitz and Andre Johnson imo. Offense couldn't get going against Chicago, but I'm positive they'll pick it up and have a great season.
#11 Houston - I'm still not drinking the kool-aid in Houston, but they destroyed the Colts on Sunday so maybe their hype is earned (for once). Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson like to put up Madden numbers, and Arian Foster should be back soon. Offense should be dangerous, but even with Rodgers-Cromartie that defense is still a ginormous question mark.
#12 Dallas - I actually think I'm ranking them too low, as they are 1-0 after all having defeated themselves this weekend. The Cowboys looked fantastic for three quarters as they manhandled an elite Jets defense and dominated defensively, then everyone went into Romo-mode and gave Sexy Rexy a season opening win on a silver platter. Maybe they can bounce back, but it'll be difficult after that debacle.
