I was gonna go with Aikman/Smith/Irvin, but Montana/Rice/Craig...beastly.

Manning/James/Harrison never won ring together.

Manning/Harrison/Freeney makes more sense.

If you compare the two, Rice and Montana were significantly better than Aikman and Irvin, while obviously as good as Craig was (first 1,000/1,000 RB), Smith is a top 5 player at his position.

For me it's Montana/Rice/Craig and then everyone else.

That isn't even close to what I said.

depends on what your quantitative stat is. If its SB wins id say hes in the top 30
That would defeat the purpose of looking at quantitative statistics.

Playing on a great team is not an individual skill.

Quote:
He retired 16th (iirc) in passing yards and is still 26th even with the passing boom. Hes still 17th all time passes competed. He retired about 40th in passing TDs now 58th. He retired 13th (iirc) in career passer rating now 44th. The passing boom has trivialized his stats but he did have them and the rings to go with them.
Even if you adjust for era, he was nothing special.

He finished top 5 in passing yards once, top 5 in passer rating 3 times, top 5 in touchdowns once, and never made the All-Pro team.

Among 1990s QBs, he's at best the 4th or 5th best QB - and you could make a plausible argument for Kelly and Moon over him.

Quote:
NFL network ranked him as the 13th best QB and the fan voting ranked him 9th
No one disputes that there are alot of Cowboy fans.

Troy Aikman was a fine QB, but for a HOF QB his numbers are pedestrian at best. He threw for 20+ TD's in a season once. His TD-INT ratio is good but not great. In 11 seasons he surpassed 3.000 yards 5 times and his career high was 3,400 yards. Y/PA is an mediocre 7.0, and he was a career lifetime passer rating of 81.

Very good QB, who won 3 championships, but statistically at least his numbers are so-so. If he plays for any team but Dallas he probably doesn't make the HOF.

Going on pure production he's probably #5 or #6 in his era. I think Warren Moon and Jim Kelly were both better players than he was.
