He's there best defender an makes a lot of other defensive players jobs on that team easier. A high caliber player always makes a difference.

Come on, he's are best linemen, by far, and the only Pro Bowler last season. Not having Kyle is huge against the run and getting pressure up the middle. The team needs to rally next week or its going to be a long December.

As the others have said Williams at least made the run defense passable. You didn't see teams eating up 5-6 yards and busting 10+ yard runs when he was patrolling the line.

I'm not saying the defense was a great one when he was around but the ability to keep the opposing run game in check put a lot less pressure on the rest of the defense.

That's because no offenses really tried to pound it, but it certainly seemed that any time it was 2nd or 3rd and 2-4 yards, opposing teams were able to pick up the yards every single time. With the exception of yesterday, the Bills defense had actually been doing a better job of making stops lately than it did at the beginning of the year. The only thing that stopped offenses for the first few games (besides the KC game) was tipped passes that turned into INTs. Offenses moved the ball at will against the defense in any way that they wanted.

We may differ in our interpretation of the defense's effectiveness the last couple weeks but I think we can all agree the defense is shot to hell right now and the Bills need a real D-Coordinator and more players on the defensive side of the ball.

Hell yes lol. This is seriously one of the worst defenses I've ever personally seen.

They've been a lot worse in the past few years. I don't think you give them enough credit, but it seems you hate them because you're in the Bills' market and you're not a Bills fan, or something.

No, on the contrary, the Bills are my 2nd favorite team, but if I'm not mistaken, they've been lightyears better against the pass than they've been this year. In a passing league, the fact that the Bills defense has made Jason Campbell, Mark Sanchez, Andy Dalton (for a half) look like Hall of Famers is just incredible. They still don't make stops against the run when they need to (even in the first few games when they were statistically drastically better than last year), but they've pretty much been unable to stop anybody the entire season with the exception of some lucky bounces that have landed right in their arms for easy takeaways.

Edit: I really, really like the Bills, and I think it's impossible not to like the way they seemingly play above their skill level most of the time, but I don't think Fitz is a franchise kind of QB. His accuracy is very sporadic, and he has a weak arm to boot. And defensively, if not for those lucky bounces they got earlier in the year, the Bills would likely only have 2 or 3 wins at this point, because they haven't really stopped anyone besides the Redskins and Chiefs who would struggle to score even if there was no defense on the field.
