-- punt/kick contest for kickers
-- race heats between the skill position players

I swear they used to do some of this. Maybe it was a preseason event? I remember watching DeAngelo Hall beat out a bunch CBs and WRs in a footrace several years ago.
I would love to see Chris Johnson race some other RB's. Could see if he's really lost a step or not.

I enjoyed the races personally. Seeing Darrell Green come back like 4 years after he retired and still make the final round at 40+ years of age was awesome. Also Brian Moorman ran in that and actually beat a couple receivers that year if I remember correctly.

To be honest all of those events were the best part of Pro Bowl week.

Besides the punt/kick contest, all of those are unnecessary injury risks.

The game is too, to be honest. I wish none of the Packers would play in it.

Every all-star game is an unnecessary injury risk. Other sports are worse because they're actually held in season.

Which is why I think all all-star games are stupid, unnecessary, and should be done away with.

But that's really neither here nor there.

For the most part, I agree. The MLB all star game is still ok....although doesn't seem to be as big of a deal as it used to be.

In other sports, there are international competitions which are as close to a true All Star game as we are going to get. The World Cup is an obvious one, and the NHL used to have the Canada Cup....and the Olympics now (Although the NHL seems to be hot & cold on that idea). But this obviously won't work with the NFL.

Then they should have made the Super Bowl.

But it still means something. Winning league gets home field advantage in the World Series. As far as I know, it's the only All-Star Game that is actually rewarding.
