Re: Shooting at Arrowhead, Player shot

Personal matters come up all the time without talk of postponing games.

Robert Ayers father unexpectedly passed away this week and he missed practice but it's his choice as to whether he wants to be at the game Sunday or not.

It's a tragic event but truth be told, I think most players and coaches would rather play the game anyway. And that seems to be the case since Crennel and the captains were consulted before the decision was made.

I'm with as far as them playing the game tomorrow.

If Crennel feels he can't Coach out there tomorrow, then if he wants to take some time off then he should go right ahead. But I don't necessarily see how postponing the game solves anything. It'll still be on the players mind whether you postpone it for 24, 48 or 72 hours and not everybody on the team grieves the same.

From the NFL:

Quote:
“After discussions between the league office, Head Coach Romeo Crennel and Chiefs team captains, the Chiefs advised the NFL that it will play tomorrow’s game vs. the Carolina Panthers at its originally scheduled time,” the release read.
So it sounds like they didn't want to postpone the game.

Didn't say that. You're the one who specified both of them...

He shot himself in front of the head coach and the GM.

I'm not talking some moral "let the game go on" because this guy is a murderer.

You don't think those 2 are shook up to see a guy that they've seen everyday off himself right in front of them?

This isn't a movie where we are just so desensitized to killings that things become business as usual.

What it is is a league that depends greatly on the schedule being in tact, not just one team. They couldn't postpone it more than a day... postponing a game effects every team in the league, especially this close to the end of the season. This is tragic but not in a sense that it should alter the structure of the entire league.

You, and anyone else who thinks this, really need to get a clue.

The man was clearly not in a rational state of mind, so it's not a reflection of his character. It's not like this guy did a Rae Carruth and tried to get away with murder.

He's goes to the facility to thank his coach and GM before taking his own life? Um, yeah, that jumps out to me as there being something not right with this guy. That is not a rational thing to do.

People need to get a clue?

How do you know he wasn't in a rational state of mind? Were you there?

I'm okay with someone wanting to wait to pass judgement but to make a statement like this is jumping the gun just as much as the point you are arguing against.

I dont know if I want them to postpone the game, but if they did it wouldnt be postponing for the sake of commemorating Belcher. I dont get what your point was on that Matrix.
