But let's not act like there weren't any people mentioning guys like Arian Foster or LeSean McCoy as possibly being the #1 RB in the league last year(aka living in the moment)or even a few years when Chris Johnson was playing for his contract.

I agree that Peterson is the best clear cut RB in the league, but let's not act like this has always been the case because it hasn't.
Not sure if you're already taking this into consideration but if you're talking about the expectations of how RBs would play THIS year, many ranked AP lower because he was just coming back from injury. Overall, I'd think everyone still considered him the best.

Re: Top 10 Current Running Backs

I'm talking about last year.

2012-"He's clear cut the best RB in the league and no other RB should be in consideration."

2011-"He's the best RB in the league but there are other guys in the conversation."

It's why I said in my post that consistency is the #1 thing to me when it comes to ranking players and that Alfred Morris is not all of a sudden a Top 5-6 RB based on one year alone.

I agree with your thinking on it. I don't know if I agree with your interpretation of the take on AP though... at least around here. I only remember other names being talked about (and mostly in regard to fantasy football) along with AP because of the injury. In the same sense, I think people are going a bit overboard bc of what he did while coming off of that injury. Either way, I don't think anyone considered anyone else better overall... just expected them to perform better this year since most RBs (read everyone not named Adrian Peterson) take time to get back to full speed.

Could be wrong though, didn't go back and check.

Re: Top 10 Current Running Backs

Trust me if I'm mentioning other names, Fantasy Football has NOTHING to do with that whatsoever, lol.

I think you're going to find this opinion be pretty consistent throughout most of the guys who are heavy on the CFB forum here and spend some time in the NFL forum, rather then the other way around. After closely watching how great he was in college (should have been the first freshman to win the Heisman) then following his rookie campaign in the NFL, I think most people who were on their 4th year of AP haven't changed their opinion much.

Re: Top 10 Current Running Backs

I agree with what Pack is saying. I think general consensus all around is AD has been number 1 or Top 2 for a few years now, but there is a sense of living in the moment. You have guys saying Morris is number 3-4 right now.

lol, I know YOU wouldn't... but some making ratings would. I'm just trying to remember the time that you're speaking of. Anyone who knocked AP down on the list was doing so with the anticipation of him having a slow (normal) comeback from surgery as far as I can remember.

Re: Top 10 Current Running Backs

No one said Morris is number 3 or 4. I have him ranked 5 - that's the highest. And I mostly put him there to generate some discussion because 5-10 are interchangable in my eyes. I also forgot about Martin, who I would strongly consider putting in my top 10 as well.
