You still technically always want the ball first in OT, as the potential for a Touchdown ends it right then and there, but I bet if we looked it up since the rule change the percentage of teams that score a TD on the first possession of overtime has been extremely low. It just seems like most teams start OT with a quick 3 and out, usually due to conservative play calling which then allows the 2nd team to posses the ball to KNOW they can win the game with a FG, instead of possibly winning the game with the FG.
