Well duh. That isn't the question that needs to be answered. What we all want to know is why the ref, who was standing five feet away, threw the flag in the first place? If the ball is clearly uncatchable, don't throw a goddamn flag.

I'm convinced the football gods are rewarding Carolina due to their recent 4th down aggressiveness.

Last year, that penalty is called and Carolina loses; just like those 2 4th quarter fumbles last week vs. San Fran would've been recovered by the 49ers and Carolina would've lost that game.
