That's the thing. Not only is he never scrutinized at all, but is widely praised constantly. I never understood it.

Jeff Fisher hasn't won a playoff game since 2003.

Jeff Fisher has finished over .500 SIX TIMES in 19 seasons as a HC.

His seat isn't even warm. This man must be the nicest person to work with on planet Earth.
20 seasons now.

Jeff Fisher should not be a head coach in the NFL. It's not because he doesn't know football, he does, he knows the game inside and out. It's not because he isn't a leader, he is, his players, organization, and the entire media respect him as if he's a hall of fame bound coach. Problem is, he's not hall of fame bound because he doesn't win enough.

His actual legacy is far below his reputation; he generally fields mediocre teams and outright losers. How he has managed to hang onto Head Coaching jobs for 20 seasons while only making the playoffs 6 times, is baffling.

The 49ers and Harbaugh, but moreso the 49ers, needed to find a way to make this work.

I see dark days ahead for the 49ers.

Re: 2015 Black Monday

Regarding Fisher, I think a LOT of his reputation was built on Steve McNair. If he didn't have McNair or he didn't pan out than Fisher would be some run of the mill DC or college coach somewhere.

Fisher will get a chance with a new QB, and if he fails with a new QB, he'll likely be ousted; he can probably blame his failures so far on Bradford's health. To be fair, the Rams have been better with him as their coach as opposed to the garbage they've had since Mike Martz.

I don't see the Ram's drafting a new QB personally.

Free agency then? I can't imagine they put all their eggs in the Bradford basket after he tore the same ACL 2 years in a row.
