Re: 2018 Offseason Thread

Did Sherman respond to him on Twitter yet or thru the media? He’s been known to do that every now and then

Damn strong. Losing Alex Mack a couple seasons ago stuck in my mind as a big loss, but they added Tretter last year.

Yeah, Cleveland is setting up something big and they still have 2 first round picks and tons of cap space. I’d still exercise caution. It takes time to gel, and they shouldn’t be going all in on one year just yet. That’s how teams have gotten in trouble before. Build sustained success, while maximizing your roster while it’s affordable. Not an easy balance.
I expect they will clash, Dorsey trading for Taylor over signing McCarron tells me he isn't going to accomodate Hue, I think Dorsey brought Haley in and is giving him the keys to the offense.

Slow start and I would expect Hue is booted and Haley becomes interim.

I don't think the Browns will draft Barkley at 1 or 4, maybe I'm overthinking it but looking at Dorsey's track record he has never drafted a RB in round 1, I don't think he views that as a position that should be picked that highly due to short shelf life. Now maybe he just never drafted a RB that high because he has never had a shot at a RB that is a generational talent, who knows.

I feel like it will be QB #1 (no idea which) and Chubb at #4, I know he wants to further boost the pass rush and he has often drafted pass rushers in round 1. Then grab a RB to pair with Duke in round 2.

Those saying pick Barkley at 1 and take the best QB at #4 (I personally am a member of this camp, I like Mayfield and think he would be there) one thing to consider. When you're the Browns and you are evaluating these QB's knowing you have the top pick, I would have to imagine you are going to fall in love with one of them. I don't think you're going to be there going Rosen well he sure is nice I could work with that, I love Darnold's upside yeah that could work, Josh Allen has an arm, Baker Mayfield is intriguing, and Lamar Jackson I like him too.

There is going to be one guy that clearly stands out above the rest to the front office, knowing that you are most likely staking your job to whichever QB you pick whether that is at #1 or at #4 how can you not pick that guy at #1? How do you pick a RB, even a generational one like Barkley at #1 while passing on the guy that you deem the franchise QB when there is a realistic chance he will go at pick 2 or 3 then you're left with your 2nd or 3rd favorite QB at #4.

I hate the idea of not picking Barkley but I completely understand why the FO is going to go QB #1. You cannot lose your guy. That being said you also better be right about that guy, but as an NFL FO you should have the confidence to pull the trigger on your franchise QB.

I think this could be an interesting side story for the Browns this coming season. Dorsey was expecting to bring in his own guy and everyone assumed that fact but the owner is so enamored by Hue (I really fail to see why) that Dorsey was explicitly told not to fire him. So if the Browns start off slow but they're super close games there may be some clashes upstairs as well as downstairs for Dorsey.

Re: 2018 Offseason Thread

Bills LT Cordy Glenn traded to the Bengals for picks. They essentially swapped 1st round picks so the Bills will be drafting at 12 now.

Man, Brandon Beane is turning out to be a very aggressive and hard working GM. We haven't seen a GM like this in Buffalo arguably since Bill Polian.

EDIT: here are the details

- Bengals get LT Cordy Glenn

- Bills and Bengals swap 1st round picks (Bills get 12, Bengals 22)

- They will swap 5th and 6th round picks.

Re: 2018 Offseason Thread

Bills are coming for pick 2 or 3 I would be willing to bet, lock up their QB.

All the more reason why I see the Browns going QB at #1.

I'm still not convinced Barkley would be the pick at #4 if he is somehow on the board, I still feel like it will be QB and Chubb although I really like Barkley. Honestly as long as it's some combination of players not named Josh Allen I will be fine with it.

Yeah when you hold this contract up to the Asomougha and Revis contracts it is glaring.

Here is another read on it:
http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/news...c1i6nq1uhs5e60

Edit: Sherman's response to Joe Thomas' comments on the contract: "It’s actually a case of believing in who I am as a player while also coming of a major injury. But I appreciate ya input"

Separate news: Cousins posted a goodbye letter to Washington
https://kirkcousins.org/blogs/blog/t..._medium=social

Originally when it was posted it had the Vikings and Jets also tagged, but those tags have since been removed.
