It's easy to say "go for it" but if they didn't make it and the Saints have a long scoring drive than it would look very bad.

I thought it was the right decision to kick it considering how well the Rams defense is playing right now.

"Don't kick 19 yard field goals unless you absolutely have to" should be an axiomatic coaching rule beaten into every football coach's head.

I'd much rather go for it and put the Saints in the position of having to score a TD then be tied and giving Brees the ball needing a FG to win. Furthermore, if you DON'T get the TD, the Saints are pinned deep. Just a BAD call, IMO, to kick a FG...coaching scared and that doesn't get you to the Super Bowl.
