I agree that there is a time and a place and a referee should use their best judgement on whether or not the penalty is as grave as the moment. For example I would hope to never see a defensive holding called 5 yards off the LOS on the backside of a 4th and 20 play in the final minute.
Where we disagree is the characterization of taunting as merely displaying emotion. Celebration =/= taunting.

Taunting? Not even close.
Thats really the only disagreement we seem to have. Your posts indicate that you think cracking down on taunting takes emotion out and tells players to be robots. It doesn't.
Cracking down on THAT kind of emotion might brush on a bit of taunting but it’s nowhere near the kind of emotion that taunting penalties are originally intending to crack down on.
