Yes indeed ! The same goes for Howard David (former Jets/Dolphins) play by play man. Gary Thorne and Howard David are so good that they can carry over into other sports and not miss a beat.

I've heard Phillips when I listened to Oilers' broadcasts on the Web before I got Center Ice, and he's pretty good. But I think people tend to love Rod for the same reasons they loved Van Miller when he was the longtime voice of the Buffalo Bills -- because they've both been there from the beginning, not because they're great broadcasters.

I'll take Quinn and Ferraro over Rod and Morley. That's just me, I guess.

i think sam rosen and john davidson are the best out there. they call the game very well....and for a announce team that covers one team all year, they stay unbiased and are not afraid to rip into the rangers when they are playing poorly or do take a bad penalty. my favorite announcers for any sport.
