According to this lawyer, Jerry Reisman, the Bankruptcy court can force the NHL to honor the movement clause in the Ballsillie offer:

Quotes from Jerry Reisman during this interview:

Quote:
Jim Ballsillie has a very strong case
Quote:
The judge has the power to break the lease agreement with Glendale.
So according to this guy there's a very good possibility that J.B. will get his team in southwestern Ontario.

For those that care, Reisman's credentials:

Education: Queens College (B.A., 1963): Syracuse University (LL.B., 1966); Official Observer to the Drafting Committee to Revise Uniform Commercial Code Article 9. Deputy Mayor, Village of Great Neck, 2000-2002; Chairman, Zoning Board of Appeals, Village of Great Neck. Trustee, Village of Great Neck, 1998-2002. Acting Village Justice, Village of Great Neck, 2002-____; Member: Nassau County Member: Corporation Law Committee, 1982-____; Banking Law Committee, 1982-____; Bankruptcy Law Committee, 1982-____, New York State and American Member, Business Law Section Bar Associations; Association of Commercial Finance Attorneys; Commercial Law League of America.

I heard this interview live yesterday. Very good stuff, I gotta say the Bobcat is on top of the ball when it comes to the business of sports. Too bad his TV show of the same name bombed.

Bob is very quick to get legal or financial experts on the phone when stuff like this comes up. And he's a good interviewer in that he gets the info needed in quick fashion.
I enjoyed this interview immensely.
It sure sounds like J.B. has a great chance to win this battle.

Re: Broke Yotes!!

Nice interview. It is sad though how this has taken the focus away from the play-offs right now.

Which is another reason why Bettman is ticked off. He said as much during the Commissioners hour on XM Home Ice this afternoon.

Re: Broke Yotes!!

Apparently Bill Daily said after the proceeding today that Moyes signed an agreement that made it clear that he was putting the keys on the table and can not file bankruptcy. This was said to have been done last December.

Moyes of course denies it.

Crazy stuff.

Man, this is going to get very ugly.
I just hope it's cleared up by the end of June so we can get on with the draft and the league.
