Re: 2010 NHL Draft

Taylor Hall is the real deal. He reminds me of last year's #1 pick John Tavares in a way. If Edmonton wants a player with Gretzky-like potential, they should get Hall with the #1 pick.

Re: 2010 NHL Draft

I think it's going to depend on who gets the #1 overall.
If Edmonton gets it I can see them picking Seguin because they desperately need a star center to play with Hemsky and Penner.
If the Islanders or Boston get it, Hall will go #1 for sure. Both teams have depth down the middle and need scoring wingers.

Regardless, I can see Hall putting up 65+ points next year while Seguin might return to junior for another year.
However, I've heard many scouts say that Hall and Seguin are neck-and-neck. So who knows? Maybe Seguin comes out and wins the Calder easily.
That could very well happen if he gets to play with Hemsky and Penner on a nightly basis.

If the Isles get Hall, watching him play with Bailey/Tavares and Okposo will be incredibly entertaining.

The only thing that concerns me about Hall is how easy he is to pinch off the wall. Or more to the point, how easily he's caught with his head down flying up the wing. I've had to see him go a$$-over-tea Kettle one too many times while playing with the Spits.
And then in the World Jr's it happened nearly every shift. Imagine what guys like Chara will do to him?

Re: 2010 NHL Draft

Yeah I've heard that he might be even more talented than John Tavares

Re: 2010 NHL Draft

Yeah Seguin might not be as good as Hall. But I have to say that Granlund is surprisingly good. I thought he would score maybe twenty points in a season but now he might break his team record as the most assists in one season as a rookie, he needs only 4 assists to make it. And he is playing against players like Sami Kapanen and Michael Nylander.

If you want to watch his highlights from the first two months of SM-Liiga go to My Arena and to hockey highlights, it should be there.

Not to base my assessment of him over a tournament, but I wasn't too impressed with Hall.

I probably won't watch the the draft since Toronto doesn't have a first round pick, unless we can swing one.

However I will probably watch to see who Boston drafts

With the exception of Mario, nobody came into the NHL with Gretzky-like potential.
